Musical theatre workshops

I would like to participate in musical workshops. How do I go around doing this with out an agent?
Is there a site composers use to advertise when there looking for people, is there certain people I should talk to? Any advice at all is really appreciated!
Thanks!

It's either through agents or who you know. Sometimes they advertise on PCR, Casting Call pro, Equity website, etc but generally - it's word of mouth.

They are normally cast privately.
