For those of you wanting to make your own Broadway ringtones (yes Wicked is included as well as about every other musical out there)....Also, the best part is that these ringtones are free!
First go to Hamienet.com and sign up for a free account. Then do a search for the Wicked tones--- or anything else
you'd like. You will have to download them and save
them onto your computer but because the songs are too long you will have to edit them -- (see below.) I just saved them to my
desktop to make it easier.
(The rest is courtesy of the Sprintusers forum but the instructions as how to make the tones and upload them to your phone are applicable to just about any cell phone with internet access.)
This is how you can shorten MIDI files to create
personal ringers.
What you need:
- Anvil Studio...avalible free from
www.anvilstudio.com
- MIDI file that you want to use as a ringer
A side note... ringers should be less then 30 seconds,
because after that the phone normally goes to
voicemail. If the file is less then 30 seconds, the
ringer will loop until the call is picked up.
To create a file for a ringer on your phone, follow
these simple instructions:
Save the MIDI file onto your computer. open the Anvil
Studio program and go to File -> Open Song and go to
the folder where you saved the MIDI file. Once the
file is opened, you can play it back using the ">"
button. Once you find a section of the file which you
like to use as a ringer, click Stop.
Now here is the tricky part. If you want to use the
part of the file before you stopped it, then go to
File -> Truncate Song...which gives you two options,
Delete from Start to current position, and delete from
current position to end.
If you want to use the first part of the file, just
click on "delete from current position to end". this
way, you will be left with a MIDI file which you can
save using File -> Save As. this will create a MIDI
file which you can name whatever you wish. just
remember to keep it less then 30 seconds.
If you want to use the last part of the file, just
find the position that you would like to use, and
click on "delete from start to current position". This
way you will get a shortened file which you can use.
Follow the same instructions to save the file for
upload.
That hard part is if you want to use the middle of a
song as a ringer. For example, if you want to record a
ringer between 45 secs and 1 min 15 sec, you have to
follow the same set of instructions twice. First play
the file until you find the perfect location for the
start of the ringer, and click on File -> "delete from
start to current position." This way you can get part
of the work done. Now, I would recommend saving the
file right now, just in case you mess it up. now once
you are done cropping it, you are ready for the second
part. Now play the file that you have already
shortened till you find a part which you would like it
to end. Once you do that, click on File -> "delete
from current position to end." This leaves you with
your ringer file completed. Make sure to save it and
test it to make sure it would sound right when you use
it as a ringer. Next, go to File -> Save As, and save
the file with whatever name you would like.
You're almost done! Go to the upload tool (www.mindful
musings.net/cellupload or rumkin.com/tools/sprint/index.php) and browse to your file, title your ringer, and enter your phone number.
Click "Send to Phone" and your new ringer is on its
way.
I've done it myself so I know this works. Good Luck!

Posted: 8/5/05 at 9:55pmI just found that on modtones.com, there is Aquarius from Hair and Footloose from Footloose

I have Aquarius as my ringtone right now, and I have a bunch from Wicked, and Time Warp from Rocky Horror.
They need some RENT. It's a sin that Brooklyn has ringtones before RENT. A. MORTAL. SIN.

Okay, so has it been figured out, for the people who don't have the option of "going" to the url when they get text messages, how to get the ringer on my phone? I made myself a seasons of love ringtone and would love to make all my friends jealous when they hear it.

my phone has a voice recorder, so i just record while playing my CDs and then set it as a ring tone, i have 2 from Worst Pies in london (the part where she goes on about how horrible they are and then the part where she talks about Mrs. Mooney using **** cats which Mrs Lovett thinks are quick).
I have one from Les Miz (the concert, Its eponines first part during One Day More "one more day all on emy own, one more day with him not caring blah blah blah") one from Altar Boyz, the begging of And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going the beginning of Company "bobby, bobby baby, bobby bubie" and part of Another 100 people and then a little bit from the Buffy Musical Episode. The ringing on my phone (before it gets picked up by voice mail) is 21 seconds, so i just find 21 seconds of things i like.

All i can say is ti wouldn't be FAME bacause everytime my friends phone rings i can't help but singign the old navy comercial. "SHORTS, i'm gonna wear them forever!!" It has ruined it for me. I think i'd like to have Everyone's a little bit racist OR Schadenfreude if i wanted a newer one. It would be kind of nifty to have The ballad of sweeney todd on there!!

Beautifullytragic,
Does your phone display any options or menus when you get a text message? If so, one of them should be an option to go to the url or a menu item that includes that option.

Posted: 8/6/05 at 1:24pmDoes anyone know if T-Mobile has Broadway ringtones? If I could have any ringtone, I would choose "La Vie Boheme" from Rent. Probably the solo Anthony sings "To days of inspiration, playing hookey, making something out of nothing, etc." lol. I'm listening to it right now. I would also love to have "Purpose" from Avenue Q.

ok so "Ringerster" would be the best bet for a Broadway Ringtone??
I have Get It Now and there are a lot of choices for ringtone programs, but dunno what to get since I know they'll all have different songs...
Which has most Broadway ringtones??
And is there a Broadway section or what is the muic under usually (like which genre).
If I can't find any good ones I'll just attempt doing it myself like the person above said (nice directions btw, thanks!), but I would rather not make my own if I can just buy one for 2 bucks.
Anyway, help appreciated... thanks
