Okay, so I know Disney won't stop making musicals out of their movies anytime soon, so if they must I think they should do a good one. And here's my idea: "The Emperor's Groove: The Musical!". Sit down, totally forget the crappy T.V. series spin-off and imagine this:
Music by:
Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, if they go for an edgier version, or
Schwartz and Menken
(either way it'll be okay; it's not like Sondheim will write it)
Kuzco: Nathan Lane (for an older, better, more Broadway Kuzco)
Pacha: Ernie Sabella
Yzma: Megan Mullaly
Krunk: Cheyenne Jackson
Thoughts? (please don't massacre it- or (gulp) lupwn it!)
And probably so, but a boy could dream...

Nathan Lane's waaaaaaaaay too old for Kuzco, and Megan Mullally is way too young for Yzma. You need more of a diva in that role, IMO.

Why do we cast Nathan Lane in every role?
I think Cheyenne Jackson would be PERFECT for Kronck! But Kuzco would have to be much younger. I am thinking Tom Deckman of Spmamlot would be good as Kuzco cause he is thin and funny much like the cartoon character. But for Ezma Im not sure and Patcha I think Shuler Hensly would be pretty good. What do you think?
The Emperor's NEW Groove, please.
Nathan Lane= essence of comical broadway/ Cuzco's age isn't pertinent to the plot, so it can be changed to fit the needs of the public (in other words, me)
Megan Mullaly= amazing diva, same personality as Yzma
Stage makeup?
Angela as Yzma is better though, she needs to make her return...
isn't the pltline that Kuzmo is like 16 and therefore knows knothing about how to be an emperor. Nathan Lane does nto look 16. SOrry to burst your bubble. Dream all you want.

I agree about Nathan Lane, but not about Megan.
I'd pay for it. I liked that movie a lot...I think.
I doubt Yzma would be Lansbury's comeback. i doubt she would even want to do that esp. Disney.
Okay, you're totally right, Nathan's way too old. Tom Deckman is a REALLY good idea, hadn't thought of that.
TooDarnHot- that was hilarious and mean at the same time. Good for you. Sorry.
Yeah Tom Deckman is amazing in Spamalot so he would probably be great. I think Shuler Hensley is the perfect Patcha and maybe Anglea Lansbury would be pretty good. It would be a funny match though, her and Cheyenne Jackson.

While you're at it, Dreamworks should look at The Road to El Dorado: The Musical. Minus the Elton John/Tim Rice songs, of course - but keep Kevin Kline.

I was actually thinking of El Dorado as I was watching, because they were two kids movies that I just loved.

I guess Megan would work, but I would choose someone older and more diva-like. Eartha Kitt did the voice for Yzma in the movie, after all.
Your casting is ok, but I don't like the source material. Emperor has always been one of my least favorite of all Disney movies.
