So today I went in to New York to try a lotto by myself. I went in and first tried the In The Heights lotto expecting to lose. There were probably a good 100 people there. I lost. I then walked around Times Square a little and rode the elevator in the Marriot Hotel while waiting for the [TOS] lotto. There were probably about 30 people at the lotto, I won! I got AA 109!
The show was incredible! It's so much fun and it's so clever.
Hunter- He is great! I loved his line deliveries and everything about his performance. The book is fantastic, he did such a good job with it.
Jeff- He was also great! The score is wonderful and his voice is also very good and he was very funny!
Susan- I loved her, she is hilarious. She has great comedic timing and she was always the one to brake an awkward silence with a joke. I hope she can do great things in her career.
Heidi- What a voice! Jeez! She deserves to be staring in a huge Broadway show. She was one of the best most purest voices I have ever heard! I just wanted her to do more in the show, she needed a few more songs!
I found this show incredibly funny and luckily so did many other normal people (Normal person as in a person who is not a huge theater geek) I like how they knew a lot of people didn't get the theater references and how they mentioned that.
Overall i give the show 9 out of 10

...It's just a really cool elevator, it goes fast and it feels like you are floating. It is just a lot of fun to ride on.

It's even cooler if you get off at the lobby and enjoy a drink while overlooking Times Square. Glad you enjoyed the show.
Not to threadjack, but how many tickets are available for the [tos] lottery? I was thinking of trying a friday night.
I've never ridden the Marriot Elevator either, but will definitely make a point of it next time I'm around.
Glad you loved [title of show]!

Marriott elevators are RIDICULOUS! Updated On: 2/15/14 at 12:08 AM
Took the elevators after Drowsy. They are cool.
See! I'm not crazy! There are 18 seats, front row, 26.50
Glad you enjoyed it.
I saw it last night... I am possibly the only person on the planet who is neutral on it. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it ~ and it seems people are in one camp or another. I really liked the song "A Way Back To Then"...but wished they'd just let her sing and not crowded it up with silly dialogue. Overall I did find it a little too "precious" and "aren't we funny?" for my tastes.
I've seen it. Probably won't make an effort to go back, but won't avoid it like the plague. (Meaning it ranks above Cry-Baby, A Catered Affair, Avenue Q and Spring Awakening but below Xanadu on my scale. That's not even including the off the charts I love them because that wouldn't be fair. It's somewhere in the lower middle section for me.)

I didn't like it either, don't feel bad.
But I loved Catered Affair and Avenue Q.
I feel like I'm the only who actually truly hated it.
Little Sally, you're not the only one.
I'll just leave it at that.
Glad you enjoyed it! I am really looking forward to seeing it soon.
Honestly, the first few times I listened to the recording, I couldn't stand it, but it really has grown on me and has become part of my regular rotation.
And yes, those elevators are a good time...as are the cocktails in the lobby lounge!

Hey DCR. I was in A-105. I think I remember you coming in. Great show. I went in knowing nothing except the premise and was blown away. It was definately worth having to run to the subway to catch my 6:30 flight out of LGA.
I also loved the show! I saw it last night and haven't laughed so hard in a loooong time. We won the lottery, which btw is not hard to win, as many have already said.
Two rows behind us were the In the Heights gals (Karen Olivo, Janet Dacal and Andrea Burns). Very cool to see that they enjoyed the show as well.

Do you think they'll ever let other people be in the show? Like - theoretically - if the play is a hit and they want to tour it, would that make the show less "precious" and less "aren't we funny?" I can totally understand that angle because you know going in that these people wrote the show, but if they're just actors playing these characters, would that change the dynamic of it?
For me I don't know. I was never a big Seinfeld fan, and that's kind of what it reminds me of. Especially the "let's pitch this to NBC" episode, which was without a doubt my least favorite. I think the whole concept is just too precious and aren't we funny to ever love it. But that's just my opinion. Others may (and I know do) differ.
