Your "Dream Broadway" only has ONE non-musical play?

Sounds like my definition of a Nightmare Broadway.

I agree completely, Margo. It's so sad that Broadway is all about musicals and plays can't seem to survive there. Over the years I've seen some terrific plays on Broadway:
Angels in America, Long Day's Journey into Night, Take Me Out, An Ideal Husband,
Master Class, and Dinner at Eight, but the bulk of plays I've seen have been Off-Broadway. Last Spring I saw Tryst and this summer I saw Room Service.

Why we need so many musicals is a mystery.

Agreed.

And why is SHREK on there? And LEGALLY BLONDE? You haven't even seen those shows yet. How can that be your "dream Broadway" if there is a possibility you'll HATE those shows?

Delete those shows right now, mister (or ma'am) and replace them with some straight plays!

Good point Capn. This fits the "I'm going to like it even if it's a pile of steaming crap, just because it was a good movie" category.

Michael Bennett, nice list. I had to take PRIVATE LIVES and PEER GYNT off of my list, though. Not enough Broadway houses. Those can go off-Broadway. re: My Dream Broadway

BUT WHERE ARE THE MUSICALS?

purpleprince - I find it hilarious that your "Dream Broadway" can be achieved by visiting your local Blockbuster.

I'm sure this is wrong, as it is just off the top of my head but from what I can think of, my dream Broadway would be:

Follies
Evita
Master Class
Company
A Little Night Music
The Light In The Piazza
The Last Five Years
Grey Gardens
Oleanna
A Perfect Ganesh
Angels In America
Sunday In The Park With George
West Side Story
Candide
Sweeney Todd
Gypsy
Carousel
Hedda Gabler
Ragtime
The Heidi Chronicles
Applause
Noises Off
Funny Girl
Chicago
Sweet Charity
The Elephant Man
Fences
I Am My Own Wife
Cabaret
Side Show
Redhead
Mame
La Cage aux Folles
Anything Goes
The Iceman Cometh
Assassins

As to where they would go? I'm not familiar enough with the theaters of NYC to know

I would post a list, but I am not familar with enough plays to have a balanced list.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
