Who here saw the 1993 Broadway revival of My Fair Lady with Richard Chamberlain and Melissa Errico? I can't find much info about it online. It looks like it had a rather short run. What was the production and design like?

Just looked up the credits for it (wondering if the design credits would all indicate whether it was based on the original designs or not), and I find it interesting that for the set it's credited as "based on original designs by Ralph Koltai," though for the pre-Broadway tour, at least according to IBDB, it's listed as "scenic design by Ralph Koltai." I'm curious what was changed between the tour and the Broadway production that caused the change in billing.

i did.
It was unengaging.
Everything about it was dull. The only thing memorable was a Magritte take on the Ascot scene, with some of the chorus suspended in air - which made an impression mostly because it had no apparent purpose other than blatant overdirection.

I don't even recall the estimable Melissa Errico being that interesting in it.

I think at the time it was billed as the first revival with a new design. It was very flat and cheap-looking and Chamberlain wasn't very good. This was Melissa's first major role after getting a whole lot of attention from the mediocre Anna Karenina musical. I remember she missed a lot of shows though, but I caught her and she was merely okay.

It was not very good at all. A friend took me for my birthday because HE wanted to see it. He was ready to leave at intermission. I was too, but I made him stay for Act 2. Happy birthday to me.

I recall Mrs Pearce was directed to "have the hots" for Higgins and during the servants chorus the servants heads popped out of spaces in the bookcase in the study. Freddy was very "light of foot" and it showed as he did quite a bit of dancing in the ballroom scene.

Chamberlain was merely okay but it was the first time I realized he had a beautiful speaking voice.
