What a trip. This was my sixth time being to NY for my show trips. This time unfortunately i got sick and almost missed my favorite show but more on that later. I thank everyone on this board who helped me with my trip. Especially those that Reccomended Journey's End. And for the first time ever there was no show like Tarzan where i disliked. I was also suppose to See GREY GARDENS but i was snowed out on Friday march 16th.
SATURDAY(3-17-07 evening) CURTAINS
What a fun show. I mean the cast was so much fun to watch. I really enjoyed the some of the smaller people in the show like the girl who played Bambi. I haven't seen sucha flashy musical in a while and a great way to start off my trip. It was also great to finally see Debra Monk and Karen Ziemba perform. I loved this show and laughed very hard in it. It's a shame that this was Kander and Ebb's last musical but, it was a good one to go out with. The score was beautiful. And William Ivey Long may possibly be the best costume designer on broadway right now. Rating: A-
SUNDAY (3-18-07 Matinee) JOURNEY'S END
Shows like this is why i am an actor. The material was fantastic. The performances were superb. I can watch Jefferson Mays act all day. I wish he had a bigger part. I hopee Hugh Dancy gets agood chance to win the Tony becuase he certainly has SOLID competition (more on that later). But, i loved how timely the material was and i couldn't breathe the last 5 minutes of the show. The curtain call is one that i will never ever forget. Rating: A+
SUNDAY(3-18-07 evening ) UCB Theatre ASSSSCAT 3000
Great improv show with a bunch of SNL members in it. I loved it.
That night i was feeling sick and almost didnt make my monday show but was glad i did.
MONDAY(3-19-07) SPRING AWAKENING
I've listened to the CD almost nonstop since i got it when it first came out. This show was the the best musical that i saw in this trip. The performances where awesome. I think John Gallager Jr. deserves best featured actor in a musical. It was awesome more praise to it. Rating: A+
TUESDAY (3-20-07) LES MISERABLES
How happy am i that i saw this with Lea Salonga? very. This was my first Les Mis experience live and i don't know how i went 21 years without it. It is so powerful and i felt lucky to see it. I loved Celia Kenan-bolgar's Eponine and Aaron Lazar's Enjorlas and Norm Lewis is a Golden God of the theatre. Yes i said it. Rating: A
WEDNESDAY (3-21-07 MATINEE) TALK RADIO
I've beena dork for Liev Schrieber since i saw Mixed Nuts when i was like 10 years old. I thought he was genius in that peculiar role. He has been one of my favorite actors for a wihle and seeing him give this performance was for lack of a better word wow. I loved everyone in this show and the set was phenomenal. I've read the show before and thought it was alright. Not necessarily bogosian's best but, not his worst. I really enjoyed it and didnt realize how funny it was. Raitng: A
WEDNESDAY(3-21-07 EVENING) KING LEAR
Our seats were close really close. We were front row basically on the stage next to the stairs. It was my first tiem seeing Lear live and i enjoyed it a lot. I wish we could've seen the top platform better but, oh well. I got Gloucester's blood on me haha. It was great to see Kevin Kline act live in front of me and it made me a very happy actor (He has been my favorite actor since i first saw "A Fish Called wanda" about 8 years ago). The cast was mostly better than adequate. I really enjoyed it a lot. rating: A-

Posted: 3/25/07 at 2:37pmI saw only 3 of the shows, I agree with Spring Awakening, disagree with Les Miz and Curtains.

Ok, I know its weird that i gave As to everything this trip. But, my alst trip to NY inlcuded Tarzan and 3 Days of rain. which were not As. Tarzan i'd say would be a low C just for how little they actually did with the material. and 3 days of Rain which is a show that i love becuase i'm a Greenberg nerd, Julia Roberts brought it down to about a B. And my other throughout my life have had a few shows that i don't really care for.
I guess i was lucky this trip

Posted: 3/25/07 at 7:31pmIs it just me or does Laura Odeh remind anyone else of Eve Ensler from The Good Body? It must be the hair...
