Gav vs Christian

Mmmk lets go over the pros and cons of each

Gavin-
Pros: AMAZING voice, GREAT actor, So natural on stage, Extremly good looking, SOOOOOOO nice to fans, STAR quality
Cons:.....Hmmmm.....He did "Bounce" lol

Christian-
Pros-Hes dating Sutton, he is funny in TMM but...
Cons-...Cannot play Jimmy as a real person, fine voice, fine actor, WHATS WITH HIS HAIR?!...Blah with fans, Regional theatre quality

(Okay I did like Christian, he just did not hold a candle to Gavin)

Thats it! Case should be closed!

Gavin does indeed have an amazing voice, and he sure is nice to his fans. He's a great looking guy, no doubt about it, and he made a fine Jimmy. He looked the part more than Christian did, but that says nothing about his talent, neither does the way he treats his fans, or his good looks.

While Gavin did a decent job playing Jimmy, Christian, from the moment he walked on stage gave far more energy to the role. How could you say his portrayal was not realistic? I think he and Gavin had a similar take on the role, the difference was, Christian did it with more poise and confidence. That's why the response he has gotten from the audience was always stronger than Gavin's. I could get into extreme specifics about why I feel this way, but it's kind of going too far off topic. (I you want to hear, lemme know, haha). On top of that CHristian's a better dancer. I have yet to hear any critical reasons that make you favor Gavin's performance over Christian's. All I hear is "he's cute, and HIS VOICE! AND O MY GOD HE'S SO CUTE!"

LOL, Alright I was going over the two of them in general. Also, I only said he was good looking, I never said "ooh hes so cute." I would have to say thats other people ::coughs::broadwayguy::coughs:: Sorry if im not being clear. I certainly did enjoy Christian's performence. I LOVED Gavin's though. I feel Gavin's voice is much more smooth and right for Jimmy (but you are right Christian has a lot of power behinde it.) Again I don't feel Christian was real. He played it like a clown and tried to make a joke out of EVERY situation, unlike Gavin. I think Gavin chose his moments to be funny. Although Sutton and Christian have AMAZING chemistry (thank god they do or soemthing would be wrong) they do look ackward next to each other (on stage at least) her being so much taller. And about the audience responce- of the course he is going to get a laugh at parts he chose to make comical and Gavin wouldnt because he didnt play it comical. Overall I feel like both Gavin and Christian got same applause of S.O. and cheers during curtain call!

This NEEDS to end! I like Christian, but I gotta stick up for my favorite actor! lol :)

I think what was so funny about Christian was the fact that he managed to create a lot of new funny moments that Gavin had never even thought of having, but he managed to play them in a realistic way that made it seem as if he didn't realize he was being funny. Had he played it so "clown-ish," I think the audience response would've been weaker, because when someone tries to hard to be funny, the audience finds themselves saying "alright already!" because it's overdone. He wisely chose his moments to be funny too, he was appropraitely serious when the script demanded so(The Finale, "I Turned the Corner," The fight before "Jimmy", just to name a few), but remember this is a rather campy, ridiculous musical comedy, the majority of the moments are supposed to be funny.

it's probably just the curse of numbers. there are so many technical things about that show & so many things that can go wrong. it used to happen at phantom, too, but after so many years, they have those kinks ironed out.
