I need to write this down for people who may (or may not) appreciate what a awesome experience I had this past weekend. and I'll make it short! I saw three of the best shows on Broadway in 2 days (last Friday and Saturday).

Friday Night: Light in the Piazza
I had tickets to see Little Women and was quite bummed when I heard it was closing. I was convinced(by apdarcey) to try Piazza. Not expecting too much; it looked nice on the Tony's?!?
I was blown away. The simple beauty of this show took my breath away. I loved every moment from the overture to Victoria Clark's last song. The sets, costumes, etc, were wonderful. And how easy is it to fall in love with Matthew Morrison? Quite easy. I have not seen Spamalot, but I can tell you seeing Kelli O'Hara put on a touching performance like this makes me wonder why she did not wine the Tony instead of Sara Ramirez. I did not plan on needing so many tissues, but Love To Me jus did me in.... short off topic message.... RUDE audience alert. So the show starts and the guy sitting 2 seats away from me opens a tootsie roll pop. OK, I don't think much of it until he start SUCKING as loud as possible. Continuously pulling the tootsie roll pop in and out with great force making a huge SUUUCCCKKKK, every time! My mom was cringing the whole overture and I asked her if I should say something and she said no. Statues and Stories finished and the man is still sucking. You'd think this tootsie pop had paid him 20 buck for a happy ending or something. Finally, and the end of Beauty is I couldnt take it any longer, I reached over my mom and said, " Sir, I don't me to be rude, but your sucking is extremely loud" He apologized obliviously and stopped. Thank goodness the rest of the show was suck free...he did however fall asleep....guess he needed a good suck to stay awake@! Anyway....

Saturday Matinee: Spelling Bee

Loved it! Loved it! As a teacher of young children I could relate to the fact that this is truly what kids are like in school. The theatre was so small but worked perfectly for this show. It was hilarious. Just a great show....Celia Keenan-Bolger and Dan Fogler were the highlights, but it was just a great afternoon show.

Saturday Night: DRS
Worst seats of the 3 shows but it was ok. I have been waiting to see this and it lived up to all expectations. Could Norbert be a little more over the top! Songs didn't hit me as much as Piazza or Spelling Bee, but still great. I didn't know the ending so that was a fun twist. All in all I loved these shows. The two comedies were outstanding, but I must say the highlight of my trip was Piazza. I must thank all the poeple that did not see Little Women causing it to close or I would have missed out on Piazza.
Just had to share. I am going through withdrawls now but seeing the touring company of Hairspeay this weekend so then I'll get a fix.
I'm gonna go have a tootsie pop =)

Aww it sounds like you had a wonderful trip! What a great three shows to choose. I agree that Kelli O'Hara deserved that Tony, she is simply lovely as Clara. But alas, it's still a beautiful show and it won 6 awards. I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

Lavieboheme...I assume you mean at DRS...we were in the rear mezzanine in row C...i dont know about U...I think the front mezzanine goes through H or I and the rear must go back to H or so...you must be in the orchestra...it wasn't a huge theatre so you'll probably be okay if you don't have a big head in front of you like I did.
cturtle...I am Betty Schaeffer!...just watch out for Norma Desmond?!
