My heart belongs to Bobby

Posted: 2/22/10 at 6:12pmI wish I could see this show... but I'm so glad Bobby Steggert's getting so much love. He's such a wonderful performer. If Ragtime had run longer, he'd have certainly gotten recognition come Tonys... hopefully he still will.

Posted: 2/22/10 at 6:19pmI wish I could see this. I love Bobby Steggert and I've been a fan of Nancy Anderson for a long time, ever since I saw her in Kiss Me, Kate some years ago.

Posted: 2/23/10 at 12:00pm[tos]fan999, if you're a fan of 'Rooms' and, by extension, Doug Kreeger, you might be interested to know that Doug did the first version of 'Yank!' at the NYMF years ago. He was quite wonderful as Stu, too, playing opposite Ivan Hernandez, who's returned to the role of Mitch in 'Yank!'

GatorNY: at the talkback after Saturday's show, some of the creative team said that they're certainly hoping there will be a recording. They said it's premature to say when it would be out/if it's definitely happening, but they're looking into it for sure.
I hope one happens. I can't stop thinking about this show!

Posted: 2/23/10 at 3:51pmThat's the best news I've heard! Until then, I'll have to get the sheet music for "Remem'bring You" from the website and sing it to myself. Hopefully the neighbors will be away in the hamptons.

Posted: 2/23/10 at 3:57pmWell, not only do they have the sheet music, but there is a pretty long clip of the song on the website...not the whole thing, but enough to make me start to tear up a bit.

At the final performance of RAGTIME I was serendipitously seated next to a woman who is a friend of Bobby Steggert's. She shared that she had seen a rehearsal of YANK, and raved about it, and I've been thinking about it and thinking about it and looking forward to it since that day.
I just got tickets to share with a friend for his birthday. I am SO looking forward to this, and think it will be a special and wonderful evening.
It started with the appeal of Bobby, but now, after reading this thread and other reviews, extends to the show itself. It feels really nice to be excited about a show again.
ETA: Is serendipitously even a word ??

Posted: 2/23/10 at 10:25pmI'm so happy for you and you are right to be WAY excited. Bobby is my new HERO of musical theater. I can't wait to go again. I wish I didn't have to wait until 3/21. Please post your thoughts. I'm about to cry.right now just thinking about it.

Posted: 2/24/10 at 12:15amI am so angry. For the first time ever, I messed up the curtain time and arrived late for the show. And I had first row on the aisle too! I was so angry I just went home and bought another ticket for next month. So congrats to whoever moved over and took my seat, and for Yank! for getting some more money out of me :)

I can't stand the thought of not seeing this again until 3/21...so they actually may be getting even more money from me...come on tax return!
Does anyone know if there's a stage door? I would love to get a picture with Bobby.

Posted: 2/24/10 at 4:46pmGatorNY, the York Theatre's stage door is inside, on the same floor downstairs as the theater; the cast goes through the lobby to get to the elevator or stairs. If you wait in the lobby after the show, you'll probably have no trouble missing the actors.

Posted: 3/6/10 at 1:40amAs regards the lead role - we saw Tom Zohar in San Diego, and he was absolute perfection. Perhaps the role is just that good?

Bryan...i was wondering the same thing and above one of the popsters wrote this.... at the talkback after Saturday's show, some of the creative team said that they're certainly hoping there will be a recording. They said it's premature to say when it would be out/if it's definitely happening, but they're looking into it for sure.
We'll keep our finger's crossed...you can listen to clips at the website.

Posted: 3/7/10 at 12:07amI can't imagine there will not be a recording. But in the meantime, the York is now selling YANK! T-Shirts!

Just stumbled across this video of Bobby as Mordred in the NY Philharmonic's performance of CAMELOT.
He's just... delicious!
