Butchered the song. Did you see Sean Combs? Oh gawd, what has become of Broadway?

What on earth was that rendition meant to evoke? I love that song and her music style just wasn't appropriate.

Hence the reason why I left the room to talk to you guys.

So, think that inspired her fans and the greater "younger generation" to go see a Broadway show?
Geez, I thought this was one of the few good performances tonight...
Oh I agree 100% she sucks Updated On: 6/6/04 at 10:34 PM

As they say on "American Idol". That was very pitchy !!
(to say the least...)
Man, that was brutal !
So i like pop music and all... but i like to keep my worlds separate, pop and bway i mean...
I do love Mary J. but didn't care for that song at all. (And it's one of my alltime fav showtunes)
Regardless, I do hope that it inspired some kid out there to maybe pick up a cast recording because she appeared on the show tonight.
But it didn't take much to beat Idina tonight.
MJB had more vibratto in her arms than in her voice. Oy vey.
While I maybe a newbie to the scene, I still like to think I have a good overall musical ideal, and while I have seen songs butchered much worse than Ms. Blige did tonight, I can't help but think that it wasn't her fault, while a very good R&B singer... R&B doesn't rely on stage presence nor verbratto. Good Idea to bring in young veiwers, but a failure at keeping loyalists satisfied, even fledgling ones like myself.

MJB is good with her own style of music. I don't think last night was for her.
