My poor ears.

Mary J. Blige just destroyed my aural capabilities.

re: My poor ears.

Butchered the song. Did you see Sean Combs? Oh gawd, what has become of Broadway?
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

re: My poor ears.

So, think that inspired her fans and the greater "younger generation" to go see a Broadway show?

re: My poor ears.

I do love Mary J. but didn't care for that song at all. (And it's one of my alltime fav showtunes)

Regardless, I do hope that it inspired some kid out there to maybe pick up a cast recording because she appeared on the show tonight.
"Noah, someday we'll talk again. But there's things we'll never say. That sorrow deep inside you. It inside me, too. And it never go away. You be okay. You'll learn how to lose things..."

re: My poor ears.

But it didn't take much to beat Idina tonight.

MJB had more vibratto in her arms than in her voice. Oy vey.

re: My poor ears.

While I maybe a newbie to the scene, I still like to think I have a good overall musical ideal, and while I have seen songs butchered much worse than Ms. Blige did tonight, I can't help but think that it wasn't her fault, while a very good R&B singer... R&B doesn't rely on stage presence nor verbratto. Good Idea to bring in young veiwers, but a failure at keeping loyalists satisfied, even fledgling ones like myself.
You, you are the worst thing to happen to musical theater since Andrew Lloyd Webber... and you I just don't like you.

re: My poor ears.

MJB is good with her own style of music. I don't think last night was for her.
