Before the movie ("Bewitched") they played "Streetsinger" from Brooklyn, announced as "the amazing Eden Espinosa with the tony award winner...(i forgot the name)". It was pretty cool! I was singing along and all my friends were like...uhhhh...
And then...pure bliss as the RENT trailer came on...my friends all know the song now cuz they saw the trailer at THE PERFECT MAN and so we all sing it now! It looks so great!
Anyway...Cheno was GREAT in Bewitched, although I wished she had had a bigger part. She was amazing though. SHE should have been Nicole Kidman's part....

Yes I had the same exact experience... we actually talked about this closer to the release date. I loved seeing RENT movie trailer on the big screen! I was really excited... so excited that I shrieked and then sang along.
I agree, Cheno should have had a bigger part in the movie.

Posted: 7/5/05 at 10:51pmI wish they'd've played Brooklyn at our theater... of course, some people in our town have never been to a play before in their life, so it might be sucky marekting. Kristin would've been a great Isabel, though...

Posted: 7/5/05 at 10:55pmThere's nothing weirder than hearing musical songs before a movie...it's so surreal...I've heard Once Upon a Time from Brooklyn played at the AMC before.

Posted: 7/5/05 at 10:58pmthe AMC in San Diego played "Dirty Rotten Number" prior to war of the world and also Sherrie's solo version of "Nothing Is Too Wonderful To Be True" when I saw batman begins...

Posted: 7/5/05 at 11:05pmNow I feel ripped off. I went to go see Bewitched today and didn't see the RENT trailer. Is the trailer typically shown before Bewitched?

I was also amazed at the addition to Broadway recordings during movies: https://forum.broadwayworld.com/readmessage.cfm?thread=857830&dt=070605030742

I'll preface this by saying that I love both Nicole Kidman and Kristin Chenoweth. For those saying Chenoweth should have had Kidman's part in the "Bewitched" movie, it's actually thanks to Kidman that Chenoweth is in the movie at all: according to imdb.com trivia, Chenoweth's part in the movie was written specifically for her because Nicole Kidman enjoyed her performance in "Wicked" so much!
Another bit of "Wicked"/"Bewitched" trivia is that Carole Shelley was cast as Aunt Clara on Kristin Chenoweth's recommendation after the original actress (Joan Plowright) had to bow out.
