I'm looking at orchestra seats at the Hudson Theatre, planning to buy tickets for The Parisian Woman. Does anyone know why the seats in the center of the orchestra are priced from 159.50 to 250 dollars, in a seemingly very random manner? For example, rows E, G, K have seats priced at 250 and rows F, H and J at 159.50, so it seems like every other row has a different price -- this can't be about sightlines, right? (I've never been to the Hudson in person but from photos it doesn't look like there'd be restricted views in the middle of the orchestra). And I mean, these seats are all pretty much smack in the middle of the orchestra, not on the sides. I understand premium seating, but aren't those usually like a continuous section, not every other row? I'm baffled. If anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate it.

I've seen this done before elsewhere. I don't get it, but don't worry about buying the cheaper seats if you want them.

I don't know if this applies to the hudson or not, but in one of our local/regional theatres there are some levels with two or three rows of seats at the same elevation level, and then the rows behind are raised for another two rows, etc. I have noticed that the view is much worse from a row behind another one at the same level, and in that theatre moving back another row to one that is more elevated improves the view.

Not the case at the Hudson (at least in the orchestra).

I was very impressed with the sightlines when I saw "Sunday." They have staggered the seats in the orchestra, which is great when you're short like me!

The Hudson has fabulous sightlines. And Ambassador did an excellent job with that renovation.

The theater website mentions an Ambassador Lounge, could the higher prices get you access to that? The Lyric (also an Ambassador house) had a lounge for On The Town, it was quite nice. No lines for restroom or snack bar (and a cocktail was included with price of ticket, if I recall correctly). It made pre-show and intermission enjoyable experiences.

^^ I agree, it might be Ambassador Lounge access. During On The Town and Paramour, you'd often see half a row in orchestra center or select seats here and there that were significantly higher, and that was due the lounge access.
