I'm headed to NYC for a mini-vacation. After vacationing there post Christmas in 2005, I have decided to miss the tourists and go this time of year - as cold as it may be. I'm planning to see 7-8 musicals while I'm there.
Thursday - Grey Gardens
Friday - The Apple Tree
Friday (11 pm) - Evil Dead:The Musical
Saturday 1st Mat - The Drowsy Chaperone (2pm)
Saturday 2nd Mat - Forbidden Broadway (4pm)
Saturday Evening - Les Miserables
Saturday option - Evil Dead:The Musical (if not Friday)
Sunday Mat - The Color Purple or A Chorus Line
Sunday Eve - Avenue Q
All subject to change. I keep my options open.

Aww, no Company or Spring Awakening?
Enjoy your trip, and post your thoughts when you're back.
Grey Gardens is an excellent choice. Have fun in New York!
Not for me right now. There's other shows I want to see more. But if a local girl I just finished a show with gets cast in it..then I'm there.

If you don't see Grey Gardens, it would be really dumb of you.
I think HOUflip was referring to Spring Awakening? Because Grey Gardens is first on the list.

Drowsy lets out at 4. It's a couple blocks plus an escalator to Forbidden Broadway. How fast can you walk?
I thought the show ran 1 hour, 45 minutes? Ah well, we will see!

Goes to show the negative comments are from the ones who don't even think to look at the first post. Now who's the dumb one, neddy!

No, I did read the first one, but you said they are subject to change. I was just saying that you should keep Grey Gardens.
No who's the dumb one?
It's pretty rude to say someone is dumb for not seeing a show. Find a better choice of words. Maybe you'll be liked someday.

Ha ha! Actually, neddy, the thing that would change would be the times and dates I would see the shows..but the shows I'm seeing are pretty set. And Grey Gardens is the first show I'm seeing...that is unless Christine or Mary Louise is not on that day.
Go see JERSEY BOYS.
It amazing.
You'll leave humming and dancing.
If not, Clumsy will send you a cookie.

Have fun! You can probably get most of these shows on TKTS.
Yeah. I plan on getting most of the tix through TKTS.
renthead333 - no, don't have the ticket for Les Miz yet.
Funny, I'm going those same exact dates. Already got my tickets for Follies, Grey Gardens, and The Apple Tree. I'm rushing for Chicago and Company

I don't know your particular taste, but since you posted: You did make some good choices. Q and Drowsy, particularly, are tons of fun and Ebersole is amazing in GG. But Spring Awakening, which may very well beat GG for Best Musical, and Company, for Raul Esparza's performance alone, are way better in my book than some of the others here, especially Les Miz and Apple Tree--hey, I love Chenoweth, but the second half is just an extended sketch that looks like the old Carol Burnett show. I guess Chorus Line is fine if you've never seen it and you can locate a cheap enough ticket, and Purple is nice but neither is as good as SA or Company. Just sayin'......
Les Mis is the worst thing I've seen in my entire life... spare yourself... I mean, sure, slow motion and a revolving stage are awesome, but do they make a good musical... nah
Clumsy - I've seen Jersey Boys prior to the Tony's right after Christmas in 2005. Yes, I love the show, but if it's sold out as it seems, then I'm going to see something else.
April - Honestly, Spring Awakenings and Company don't appeal to me right now. I've seen the video previews for SA and tried to like it, but it just doesn't. I love Company, but I'm just not in love with Esparza's voice. Before I get flamed with comments, I loved his voice in Tick, Tick Boom and in the Hair benefit. It works for that, but to me it doesn't work when he tries legit stuff. It sounds forced, warbled and throaty, especially when he sustains notes.
I've seen Les Miz several times since it originally opened and it's one of my favorites - so you can't discourage me from that. I'm looking forward to hearing this cast. Also, I've worked with Gary Beach before regionally and have a friend in the cast to see as well.
