Posted: 2/5/07 at 1:20pmActually, ACL2006, I'm leaning more towards A Chorus Line anyway. I've seen it several times and was Larry in a production a while back. I can see The Color Purple in Chicago or when the tour comes out anyway.

HOU... stick with your choices.. you have great taste. Enjoy your trip!
By the way, I agree about Esparza's voice in Company. I hear all these raves about him, but for me, he left alot to be desired. Did you see Sweeney when it was open?

Posted: 2/6/07 at 12:20pmThanks for the suggestion! I've already seen Hairspray, but it's one of my alternate shows - so if things don't work out with the ones I have selected - then I might get one and see one of Diana DeGarmo's last shows.

The video doesnt do justice to what Spring Awakening actually is.
It really needs to be seen live to get the full experience.

Saw it!
In regards to the Spring Awakenings video, if some people on this board can judge preview performances of Legally Blonde and can tell if it's a flop already....but besides that, I have other shows I would like to see more.

I saw Grey Gardens last night. First of all, I got great seats (tickets at TKTS) on Row J, 2 aisle seats, center orchestra. Also, I got the entire original cast - no understudies.
Amazing! Christine Ebersole is everything I thought she would be. Mesmerizing in my opinion. I just adored seeing Mary Louise Wilson onstage. I have seen her in many things on TV over the years. The entire cast was just excellent. I have to say that my absolute favorite person was Michael Potts who played Brooks Sr./Brooks Jr. His face during a certain not PC song peformed by Big Edie in Act 1 was hilarious!
Act 2 was very intriguing! I told my friend who I was with that I want to see the show again, because there was so much to take in - especially in the second act.

Posted: 2/9/07 at 5:14pmHave you seen the Grey Gardens documentary that the second Act is based on? If not, see it. I think you will aprreciate Ms. Ebersoles performance even more. I have seen it and have only heard her and seen clips, but I can tell she nailed it.

I tried, unsuccessfully, to see the documentary, but have read about it. I'm really gonna try to get this documentary soon.
Update: I went ahead and bought tickets online to Les Miz. Front row!

The Apple Tree - Mike McGowan was in for Brian last night. I was looking forward to seeing D'Arcy, but McGowen gave a great performance. I've seen Marc Kudish on some TV spots for musicals, but never live. And I really enjoy his great stage presence onstage. Kristin was perfection last night...well, except for when there was a loud sound coming from maybe the lights? during Lady and the Tiger. She kept referring to it, first to Walter Charles (was did not break - but Kristin did) and then to Kudish (who both broke and had to be promted by the conductor to get back into the show). I loved all 3 shows and liked how they all related to each other.
Evil Dead: The Musical - well this was a complete 180 from The Apple Tree. For what it was, it was fun. No, I did not sit in the Splatter Zone. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had seen the movie first. I noticed there were lots of people who did who were quoting the famous lines along with the actors. I think it's a great premise, and performances were good, but I felt that if some actors took their character (which all of the female roles did) more seriously instead of letting us in on the joke - I would have enjoyed it more.
