How do you become un-nasal when you sing? I've been taking voice lessons for the past two years and I'm still nasal on a lot of songs. Any tips to egt rid of it?
Think long and narrow. Drop your jaw. Not like a big wide smiling "Ah", but a long and narrow "ah". Squish your cheeks together and try singing an "ah" sound. It should be like that kind of long and narrow.
Put your finger in your mouth. Touch the roof of it. Feel the front, it's harder. Move your finger slowly back and when it gets softer, that's your soft pallate.

I don't feel it vibrating. And Aigoo, that did work for me. Maybe that's why I don't sound nasal when I sing classical music, because I use exaggerated Italian.
Sutton Foster is amazing. My mom says she's nasal too, but in a good way. People think we sound alike. (I don't, don't bash me, just saying since she came up)
Yeah there are alot of people who sing nasally but use it to their advantage and it works for them. As previously stated, as long as they are singing healthy and full more power to them. Nasal is not always a bad thing.

Until recently, I've been belting using pure chest voice. It sounded really strained and like the infamous "Idina-shouting". But lately, I'm starting to sing through my nose on those breaky notes (A and B). It doesn't sound as forced, and it's much more comfortable.
Yeah there are parts where I sing or belt in a more relaxed voice through my nose because it's more comfortable to me (I have a good chest voice but I feel more comfortable in a higher range) so it's not a bad thing to sing through the nose all the time.

Is it near the back of your mouth? Like...near the opening of your throat? I think I know where it is, but I still can't tell if it's vibrating or not, darn it.
You should be able to feel your soft palate with the tip of your tongue. Just start at the base of your upper front teeth and slide straight back until it goes from hard to soft.
