Hey all! I have been long overdue to see Phantom again on tour and am wondering how it is compared to Broadway lately. I have seen it on tour probably 5 times along with Broadway and London and there really is not too much of a difference in all areas..but what do others think?? Someone made a comment about it being rather "cheesy" on tour but I am not sure if that is true since it is basically the Broadway production in a box. For those who have seen it recently how is the cast? Gary Maure as Phantom and Rebecca Pitcher as Christine?? Also I hear his wife is in the cast. I can not think of her name. Any comments???
I saw it on tour three times and I absolutely loved it. I haven't seen it on BW though. Rebecca Pitcher is a good singer, but I found her acting to be rather wooden.
I saw the tour twice back in May and it was wonderful. I'm not a fan of Pitcher's, so she was okay for me as Christine. I thought Gary was an awesome phantom and its well worth the money.
Totale finsternis, ein meer von gefuehl und kein land
I didn't care for Gary Maure's voice. It just didn't sound right.
"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D
Mauer... do not mis-spell the GOD of all Phantom's name wrong... ever. HE IS A GOD! A VOCAL GOD!
I saw him, and Rebecca Pitcher four times.
Gary, I love. I want to marry the man if he wasn't already married and didn't have kids... but my GOD. He made me bawl all four times. He has such passion, and it just amazes. He is a beautiful man with a beautiful voice. He is a treasure, and I would kill for him. He is... just. Wow, I mean wow. He has left me awestruck.
Rebecca Pitcher has an amazing Operatic voice. If you don't like Opera, then you won't like her. She has an interesting multi-tonal voice it sounds like. But it's amazing. She and Gary really made me appreciate Opera.
I also loved the rest of the cast. Kim Stengal is the best. She is brilliant as Carlotta. Total Diva. Just love her.
And the woman who plays Madame Giry is also amazing. Her whole, stance, is just. Amazing. She really is what Madame Giry is all about. She impersonates the role as I thought it should be. Plus she winked and waved at me in the front row so of course I'm a little partial.
