Posted: 3/25/13 at 9:21pmMy friend said last week he did sign and take pictures, even smiling once or twice while doing so. But I can pretty much guarantee you that won't be the norm. .

"pretty much guarantee" isn't even close to "ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE".
I'll throw in an "It probably isn't likely and Jordan's friend got lucky".

Posted: 3/25/13 at 9:40pmWith someone as generally unpleasant as Nathan Lane? Yeah I can ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE THAT. An it seems as if you're just about as unpleasant as he is.

Posted: 3/26/13 at 3:51pmOne thing you might have luck with is leaving a playbill in an envelope (with your name on it) with the doorman with a request Lane sign it. He rarely stagedoors.

I sent him mail with a SASE during his run of THE ADDAMS FAMILY and he responded, signed both items (the CD and Souvenir program) and mailed them back to me. I think he just doesn't like dealing with the crazy crowds, which is completely understandable.
The rare instances I was able to meet him in person though - he was very gracious.

Posted: 3/26/13 at 4:37pmHe runs hot and cold. He can be very charming or really nasty, depending on his mood. I have noticed, as WAT says, that he is usually willing to sign if you make it easy for him to do so in a non pressured situation.

Posted: 3/26/13 at 10:04pmI haven't seen Joey in more than 30 years, but he used to strike me as actually very shy, using broad comedy to compensate. I can well imagine he finds it difficult to greet fans at the stage door. (BTW, in my experience he was a handful for the stage manager (me), but in a fun way. I never saw him be mean, but of course I knew him before he was famous.)

Keep in mind this is preview period and his routine may change once it opens.
He seems to NOT stagedoor more than he DOES stagedoor.
The few times I have met Nathan at various stagedoors and events, he has been fun and pleasant.

Posted: 3/28/13 at 10:54amI don't expect Nathan to stage door when I see the show, but do you think he would allow me to leave my playbill with the doorman to be signed?

Posted: 3/28/13 at 12:57pmIf you leave your playbill with the doorman, be sure to include a SASE with it. Nathan will definitely be kind enough to sign it and send it back to you.

Okay, so how does he get out of the theater if he doesn't stage door? Or does not stage dooring mean he just whisks past the fans?
So maybe I just answered my question.

Posted: 6/13/13 at 1:41amThe time I went to The Nance, he came out and hastily signed for one person before quickly being escorted across the street to his waiting town car. He didn't seem to be particularly nice or not nice - he didn't really have time to be either.

Posted: 6/13/13 at 9:59amWhen we saw him in Trumbo, he stayed awhile outside signing for people and was very pleasant. Afterwards, he just walked away down the street and around the corner, maybe heading for the subway it seemed.....

Posted: 6/13/13 at 11:19amAfter NOVEMBER, he chatted with me for about 10 minutes. There weren't many people waiting, which may be why. But he couldn't be lovelier... I'm seeing THE NANCE on Saturday at 2pm. Doubt he'll come out after a matinee, though...

Posted: 6/13/13 at 3:00pmAfter November, he booked it out of the stage door and into a car. Didn't sign autographs or take pics. Seemed in a great hurry, so I guessed he had somewhere to be. The crowd was extremely disappointed.

Posted: 6/13/13 at 3:10pmI wouldn't blame anyone associated with November wanting to hightail it out of there before anyone spotted them. Poor Nathan. Poor Laurie. Poor us for seeing it.

Posted: 6/13/13 at 3:21pmI was lucky enough to get to go backstage to meet with one of his co-stars when he was in "The Adams Family". He did sign my playbill and was gracious... I was told I should consider myself lucky that he did.

Posted: 6/13/13 at 8:29pmI went to matinee and security guy says he never comes out after matinees so I went back later and he was very nice. Maybe because it isn't such a big production and probably a lot of people don't bother to figure out where the stage door is he is more inclined.

Posted: 6/13/13 at 9:52pmYou mean Nathan lane hasn't found a secret passageway out of this theater the way he sis with the St.James when he was in THE PRODUCERS?
