Why do I have trouble taking this seriously? Does Lane have the acting chops for a role like this? (I have only seen him in musicals/comedies.)
Stop it! This can't be real.

Hold Me Touch me - That's a funny name for a play, "Cash!"
Max Bialystock - So was the Iceman Cometh!
I would totally go see this!
Actually, once the shock of the idea wears off I can see Nathan doing a really good job with this. If he dials back his performance style a bit he could be very affecting.
There always seems to be an undercurrent of desperation in his performances in comedy (that's not a criticism, btw).
Does Lane have the acting chops for a role like this?
Yes, he does.
I would definitely be front and center for this!
Nice one, ifuweregay93
THAT was my first thought when I heard this might happen.
I agree with you, PalJoey. He sure DOES have the acting chops for the role.
After the AF reviews, he may be doing it sooner rather than later after TAF advance dries up.
Lane is a known workaholic. He often goes from one job to the next. And he most certainly has the chops. Anyone who saw him in Love! Valour! Compassion! or Waiting for Godot would know that.

I thought Lane was better than okay in BUTLEY, but he really impressed me during his stint in TRUMBO. He definitely has acting chops.
I would love to see this if it happens.
He does have the chops, and is really one of the best performers we have right now. He was great in Waiting for Godot. He (along with John Glover) couldn't quite overcompensate for the aimless assclown performances John Goodman and Bill Irwin were giving, but boy did he try. He was very poignant.

He's been doing dramatic plays all throughout his career. I first saw him The Common Pursuit in the mid-80's. I think he'll make a great Hickey. I hope I get to see him.
