I think this thread reveals the diverse group of people who enjoy theater and post here. Clearly the birthday girl is a giddy teen. And then there are those of us who grow up and realize that these "stars" are just people and are lucky to be doing what they love. I've never really understood the celebrity worship thing and wouldn't even wait in a line to get an autograph, but happy that is made your special day.

ya i mean shes such an amazing person! I freaked out on everyone there! i just love broadway and theater and theyre so lucky to be doing what theyre doing I can only hope to be half as great as these people one day!

The thing about Marissa is she is obviously cut from, shall we say, different cloth. I can easily see how it would be inspirational to see her success - especially if you're a teen who is dealing with the onslaught of our appearance obssessed culture.

As one girl posted already, it helped her come to terms with her own body image awareness - and that's deserving of some attention.

Besides, it just makes them so HAPPY!

That's a cute story...I like Marissa because she is a heavier girl like me and it shows that anyone can do anything...I can only dream...

Awww! Yay for you!

I met her too; just last week. I felt like such a schmuck though. I told her that I wish I had her life and gave her a congrats on her Tony. Yeah... two years after the fact.

Nice, right?

Well I got a cute picture regardless, so it was a good day.

Congrats! It's great when you get a chance to meet a star you really admire. I've had memorable encounters with Billy Crystal and Hugh Jackman that I'll never forget amongst others.
