Posted: 2/21/08 at 1:44pmSo with RENT closing this theater is soon gonna get a major facelift. I was wondering if the nederlander has a pit, and will be used for musicals? or do you think it will be used mainly for plays like in the days before rent

Posted: 2/21/08 at 4:27pmWhen I sat in the 2nd row on Sunday night, I did take a close look at the environs of the Nederlander. I swear it was the first time I ever saw people sit in the boxes actually. And there sure didn't seem to be a pit either, unless it was somehow cover for REnt's run.

It has an orchestra pit in this picture.

I read somewhere that the pit was where the lotto seats are.

Posted: 2/21/08 at 6:48pmYeah, most theatres can cover the pit if it's not in use. Some theatres can even raise the pit to the floor level and add a row or two of seats.
