Hey all.
I have to sing a song from a rock musical, and I'm tapped out of ideas. Wanted to turn to all you theatre people for help. I have a belt up to C5, however Im more comfortable around an A5, and I'm a boy.
Things I'm currently considering
Another Pyramid (Aida)
Pity the Child (Chess)
Mount Rock (School of Rock)
Wake Me Up When September Ends (American Idiot)
Heaven On Their Minds (Jesus Christ Superstar)
I'm Alive (Next To Normal)
Things I've Already Discarded
Revolution (Across the Universe)
You'll Be Back (Hamilton)
Amazing Journey (Tommy)
Boy Falls From The Sky (Spider-Man)
This Is Not An Exit (American Psycho)
Things I'd Love To Do But There's No Sheet Music Available
The Answers (The Black Suits)
Good Kid (Lightning Theif)
Selling Out (Broadway) (American Psycho)

The sheet music for Selling Out is on the American Psycho vocal selections

Really? Not the Fischer King Remix? That would be great actually. I'll look into it. Thanks!

Is there anything from SA that's approiate? The event I'm singing at could have kids as young as eight in attendance :/

The version in the vocal selections is the fischer king remix, but an appropriate song from spring awakening could be Don't do sadness, all that's known or left behind, they don't have any explicit lyrics

Ah! So close. But those spring awakening songs look promising. Knew you guys would come through! Thanks again.

Man up from The Book of Mormon. Very rock and roll. If not that then try raincoat of love from fun home. Some other good rock theatre is Walk like a man from Jersey Boys or other anthems from that show. If none of what we have given works, just skim through the Beautiful cast album. Everybody say yeah from kinky boots and lastly sunset boulevard from sunset boulevard fro the ac ab belting. I really hope this helps !!!!
Hey, I'm not directing the show, I'm not even an actor. But if they ask for "rock musical" numbers, I'd avoid songs that, while appearing in shows with rock scores, aren't really rock numbers themselves. For example: "Wake Me Up When September Ends" is a gorgeous ballad that, depending on orchestration, could fit into any musical; the title song of "Sunset Boulevard" is very traditional musical theater in form, not rock.
