Hey all,
Looking for a song that I can do with some friends for a competition. I haven't really chosen the people I want it, it kind of is based on the song. But we need it to be between 3-7 people, a mix of guys and girls (exact number doesn't really matter but no more than 5 of either), and preferably something with humor. Just searching for ideas, I'd like to listen to any of them so if you know of any really great songs (that aren't overdone, no one wants to do a song that everybody knows) please help me out and list them here. Thanks a bunch in advance everyone!

Posted: 9/1/04 at 7:38pmI was gonna say A New World from SFANW. It can definately be stretched, but one of the guys is basically a male alto--so unless you have a guy with a really high voice that'd have to be worked out. I'm doing it with some friends for a performance but that part is being sung by a girl so I'm the only guy singing.

the opening number from "Company" needs 14 people....and it is VERY hard--big surprise....
if it's for a competition, something that's flashy would probably be better....like Summer Nights, We Both Reached For the Gun, Brotherhood of Man....

This is a weird suggestion, but if you really want to be out there, you could do Keep It Gay from The Producers. Max, Leo can be played by girls, and Shirley Markowitz is a girl. Kevin could probably be a girl, too.
Horrible suggestion, I know, but I just got the sudden urge to suggest it. I would totally do Keep It Gay for a talent show if I had people to perform with.

you could also do "Gee, Officer Krupke" with boys and girls--and it requires fewer people...

Just a bump, lots of good suggestions here but we've ran into a couple issues the last couple days on getting people to do it that are dedicated for this competition. Our original plan months ago was to do The Opening from SFANW but the two guys who are putting this group together (myself included) are actually a bass and a baritone and singing up for us just didn't sound too good so we ditched that idea. Grease, too overplayed. Listened to the songs from A New Brain and weren't overly impressed, they were okay, possibilities. Bye Bye Birdie is too cheesy for us, lol. The others I haven't looked into yet but will soon.
We have for sure three guys (a bass and two high baritones/low tenors) and a girl (a soprano in chorus but could pretty much do anything other than opera) that would be in a group if needed. We'd need to work to find more. I'm just brainstorming, I know I'm a pain in the ass
but thanks for all the help guys.
