As to the Canadian wedding, that would require Mr. Harris to come out, wouldn't it? Hopefully he'll make that decision someday, but apparently his "advisors" have dissuaded him.

Posted: 7/20/05 at 11:23amHe was quite impressive in Assassins. I had no clue he was that good. (I think I fell in lust with him!) I hope to see him on Broadway again soon. Lovely voice. Did not see him in the Sweeney Todd concert only because I just can't sit through LuPone's Mrs. Lovitt. But for Neil, maybe I will!

Posted: 7/20/05 at 11:33amYep, he's gay, but that is what makes his role in Harold and Kumar so hilarious! I thought he did a great job in that movie. I love my Doogie!

Posted: 7/20/05 at 12:30pmI didn't know he was gay. That makes me feel really slow. And my mom was like flipping out watching Harold and Kumar, going "Eww! Doogie, stop it!" Funny stuff. I'd love to see him in something, though.

I saw NPHarris in the West Coast première of RENT in La Jolla, CA. He played Mark and of course... was great!
What was he doing in The Paris Letter to cause so many heads to turn?
I, for one, had no idea he was gay.

He and co-star Josh Radnor showed it all.

I think there was a thread about actors appearing nude recently :)
It was widly reported that NPH appeared nude in THE PARIS LETTER. His partner apparently appeared nude in Edward Albee's PLAY ABOUT THE BABY in New York. Did anyone see that?

Yes, Burtka played The Boy in Albee's The Play About the Baby and revealed himself. Talk about a couple without inhibitions!

I just saw Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle... and I was so confused by his role, because the whole time, I was sitting there going, "Isn't he gay?" But then I realized that maybe that's what made his role so funny...
Oh well, I just needed to come and check just to make sure I wasn't making that up about him being gay.

Posted: 7/28/05 at 7:30pmNPH was excellent in The Paris Letter and his lengthy (pardon the pun) nude scene was intoxicating. I see him and David out at theatre openings quite a bit.

I can't believe people are having that discussion quite so bluntly. But perhaps my opinions on this too are skewed and irrelevant because I'm an.. oh, straight female.
That said, David Burtka is ADORABLE. Good for them!
(And I wish I'd seen NPH in Cabaret. I've heard he was unreal.)

The R&J that NPH was in...was that the version done off-Broadway in 1998 where the etire play was acted out by 4 prep school boys? I saw R&J and thought it was brilliant. The only props were a paperback copy of the book and a red sash of cloth that became everything from a rose to Tybalt's blood. Bloody brilliant!

Posted: 7/29/05 at 9:05amI was lucky enough to see Neil in Tick Tick Boom in London 7 weeks ago. Sat in the front seat in a VERY small theatre, it was 32+ temperature outside and the lovely guy sweated all over me. Have not washed my clothes since. Boyfriend is complaining about it. He was bloody good by the way....best thing in London. Much better than awful Woman in White (brace yourselves Broadway....) and even better than Billy elliot.....

I saw the London production of "Tick, Tick...Boom!" last month (it was the last weekend that Neil Patrick Harris was performing in it, although the production will continue through the end of this month, I believe). He was BRILLIANT in it. And I think it is a very mediocre show, some funny moments, some touching moments, but very stereotypical and with so many musical and dramatic cliches. So, to be brilliant in it, he had to be unusually good. He was completely natural, made the wishy-washy character into someone you really cared for, so that when the more touching moments came later on, they had more impact. He is, of course, an absolute cutie. The theatre was tiny, only sat about 200 (it was packed) and I was only about 5 feet from NPH most of the time. He sang wonderfully. He is a very complete performer, able to handle comedy, drama, singing, and he moves well. He also was able to scale his performance down to the miniscule theater size, so it didn't seem like overkill.
Afterwards, he met many of the audience at the bar right outside the "theatre" (just a room with raised seating). He was delightful. I had a long conversation with him about many things, and he was just what you would hope he would be: intelligent, funny, articulate, very level-headed about who he is--you don't get any nicer than this.
I have also just read a fantastic review of his work in the new sitcom ("How I Met Your Mother") in which, according to the review, he totally steals the show. I want the show to be a big success, but I do hope that it doesn't keep him away from Broadway for too long. He clearly loves performing live, and the theatre world needs someone this talented.
If David Burtka is indeed his partner, I hope that they have a lifetime of happiness together. He deserves it.
P.S. The performance I saw was the day after the London bombings--July 8 (I had tickets for the night of the bombings, but all theatres were closed on July 7). If ever there was an inappropriately named show to see that evening......

Posted: 8/6/05 at 5:06pmI was just watching NPH in My Antonia (I had to read the book for school and decided to TiVo the movie so I don't have to read it again) and I was thinking about how much he must bring to Jonathan Larson's work. I've heard some boots from him as Mark in the RENT tour and I think he sounds terrific.TTB is also a fantastic work so I'm sure he suits it well. Maybe if his T.V show falls through (and considering it's a sitcom, there's a possibility that it will)he'll come back to Broadway.
