I think they should have left the old one. It is apparant that the producers want to scare people with that picture of Cheyenne Jackson.

I was there when they were putting it up this morning....I wondered how long it would take before pictures were taken.
why would a picture of Cheyenne scare people?
It would draw more attentino if he was wearing his Rocky costume.
he can wear anything and I for one would be happy LOL :)

...or nothing!
I like it better much better than the old one.
I think it will certainly grab more peoples attention while passing by (or waiting in line at TKTS).
Not enough Jenn Gamby.. who they seem to forget also happens to be a lead.. true shes not a hott Man but shes pretty and shes the LEAD as well! grr
I have nothgin agains Cheyenne.. I do this is is very very really good lookingbut I am sick of the show being sold on Just his looks.. cuz it's gonna just hurt them down the line when they have cast changes.. and The show is really great.. but all people hear and see is Elivs and Hot guy..
Too bad they have to market the show on the star's "looks" and not on the actually quality of the product.

$ex $ells.
Same thread, same billboard, same comment: He looks like he's kidding the show.
If he was wearing a speedo in the billboard, I'd say that the producers are using sex to sell tickets, but come on - he is the star of the show, got great notices, has somewhat of a name in the community now - why not feature him, in costume, on the billboard above the theatre. I see nothing wrong with it.
But, I'd still rather he be wearing the speedo!
The show is still more exciting and fin than the crap at the shubert IMHO.
He does scare me on that Billboard. Could they not have picked a more flattering picture?

I guess I'm the only one who's never been smitten by his looks? I've heard his singing and he is a fantastic performer, I just prefer my Roger.

I liked the show, had loads of fun! Cheyenne does look a wee-bit scary in the billboard though.
Well, I like it.
ProducersFan, you are not alone. He looks far too much like a "friend" of mine for my comfort.
I liked the old one better, but I don't mind this one. it just kinda clashes. it should have a yellow background too. other than that it's fine, I wish I had stayed long enough to see both...

As someone who works in advertising, I can tell you that any billboard that size, in the heart of Time Square, would be tested for what elicited the best response. Producers don’t make arbitrary changes, because replacing billboards of that size cost them tens of thousands of dollars (in art direction alone). It could be well over $100K.
My guess is that multiple versions of the new billboard were shown to random groups of people. And the one people responded to the most, is the one that was put up.
All billboards have the same goals, to get your attention and get you interested in what they are selling. I personally think its way better than the yellow. I’m not a fan of cartoon art on posters – with the exception of WICKED.

I agree, Tomas...though Wicked is an exception because the poster plays off The Wizard of Oz...if there was no WoO - I think it would be weird.

TomasMarx, I don't give a damn how much a billboard costs. Nothing could get me to see that show. Those producers are idiots for throwing good money after bad. They will not even break even on B'way. The money for those frauds is on the road.
