God...do good things EVER stop happening for this show?!?! Not that I expect it too - its a Brilliant show and its not too often that a replacement cast looks THIS good and is almost as equally as exciting as the originals.
I can't wait to see Atkins/Eldard/Malone & the Tony Winning and One Scene Powerhouse Adriane Lennox!
Not to mention the fact that DEFIANCE will be here soon enough. If it lives up to DOUBT standards, JPS could be hailed the new king on American Playwrighting!

What happened to the bonnet? Will Atkins not wear it?
I enjoyed that bonnet.
re: New DOUBT poster#4
Posted: 12/30/05 at 11:55pmShe most likely will. The DOUBT poster was never really "accurate". The old poster showed Jones not even IN her nun outfit and without the bonnet.

re: New DOUBT poster#6
Posted: 12/30/05 at 11:57pmJanuary 8th is Jones, Goldenhersh, and O'Byrne's last day in the show. You can rush it or maybe buy tickets at the box office.

Atkins will wear the bonnet lol. The reason she and Cherry are not wearing it in the advertising was an intentional choice--it would have looked like a Pilgrim or Amish play.
re: New DOUBT poster#8
Posted: 12/31/05 at 4:14pmI forgot that they all were leaving. I have to go back this week and see Cherry and Heather one last time.
re: New DOUBT poster#9
Posted: 12/31/05 at 6:38pmI bought tixs for January 10th, not knowing the original cast was leaving. I hope the new cast does a great job.

Posted: 12/31/05 at 6:43pmGoodbye to the one quality cast in the one quality show currently gracing a Broadway stage eight times each week.

Posted: 12/31/05 at 11:30pmi must say this seems to be a rarety nowadays, for a play to actually have a replacement cast, they always seem to close long before replacements are ever considered sadly

not sure about Pride & Prejudice...although, Oliver Platt is staring in the movie, and also in another upcoming MTC production, the much talked about "Shining City".
And youre right jonartdesigns, it sure doesnt seem too many straight plays have replacement casts anymore. They normally die before the original casts contracts are up. The only plays I can remember in recent memory, who actually had replacement casts, are "Take Me Out" & "Proof" - another MTC hit. For every stinker they put on stage (I still shudder when i think about "Drowning Crow") they sure do match it with one hell of a play. And I can say, that although I enjoyed "The Other Side" - I know MANY didnt - after reading RABBIT HOLE, I predict some praise singing again.
As far as DOUBT goes, bwayondabrain, - Lennox is staying (for how long, I dont know - but she is the only original cast member sticking around).
I'm also hearing rumblings in my theatre circles that MTC is about to pull another casting coup with "Shining City". - Hopefully its near as good as Roundabout's exciting news that Cindy Lauper will be replacing Edie Falco in "Three Penny Opera" - we all know she can sing. And to think, Cindy Lauper on BWAY - YAY!

Posted: 1/1/06 at 1:17amI hadn't known about Jena Malone being cast in Doubt until reading this thread. Very intriguing casting since several years ago, Ron Eldard and Jena Malone appeared together in the movie "Bastard Out of Carolina." Jena Malone was just a child, and Ron Eldard played her abusive step-father. Interesting dynamics there.

Very interesting dynamic indeed JO125...
Well...I keep hearing more and more people are in PRIDE & PREJUDICE and it makes me a BIT more intruiged to see it. But everytime I see the trailer for it - I just go "oh not ANOTHER period piece!"
Has anyone seen it? Good? Not?
re: New DOUBT poster#17
Posted: 1/1/06 at 11:24amThe new cast for Doubt has been very carefully selected, and I think they are going to be superb replacements.
re: New DOUBT poster#18
Posted: 1/1/06 at 12:41pmI agree Smaxie - Atkins is a BRILLIANT actress and when I heard that casting news - I just couldnt believe the number of wonderful things that CONTINUE to happen for the extraordinary Play!
re: New DOUBT poster#19
Posted: 1/1/06 at 1:57pmLacage fan, this is kind of off topic, but you read the Rabbit Hole script?!?! Is it any good? And when does it close on broadway? Some sites say March 19 and others say March 26. Which is it? Thank you in advance.

I did...a dear friend of mine got me an advance copy of the script - and if it plays anywhere near as good as it reads - this is one of the best plays of the decade thus far! I kid you not.
As far as its length on Bway. I know MTC is a subscription based organiztion, so they HAVE to open "Shining City" on time. But I really wouldnt be surprised, that if the reviews are as wonderful as I expect them to be, that "Rabbit Hole" would move to a different theatre - a la "Doubt". (if one is open that is) But oficially as of 1/1/06 - I believe March. 19 is the final performance.
