New EVITA tour recording?

It would only rock if it was a complete recording. Though the rumor may have come from the fact that there is a 2008 Dutch cast recording that was made and is now not being released due to copyright issues.

I am pretty sure it was about the U.S. tour...

wasn't everyone posting how much the tour sucks on another thread?

yeah, I remember a thread from a while back where everyone was pretty much bashing the tour... incidentally, a friend and colleague of mine is in it - cast in the ensemble, now covers for Che.

Ugh! I don't like Elena. I have the revival recording, but I don't listen to it much, though I am partial to the new orchestrations/arrangements. I find her thick accent grating, as well as Matt Rawle's (i.e. "But who is this Santer Ayveeta"). In the APR, it was Bob Gunton's unnecessary and bad-attempt-at-a-Spanish-accent that bugged the hell out of me.

jaystarr, I recently purchased the London revival cast recording and was very disappointed. On the whole, I thought it paled in comparison to the original. I don't think I'll listen to it again; once was definitely enough.

I give less than a damn about EVITA. I say record what may be Ted Neeley's final performance as Jesus, do a JCS recording since the bastards at Webber's company have their heads too far up their own asses to release a CD and DVD of the 2006 benefit (Neeley, Vereen, Elliman, Jack Black, Clint Holmes, et al.!

After having been a fan of Evita for years, I've decided that the 06 London recording is the only one worth listening to now. The performances are far more musical than any other recording, and musicality is most important in a recording for me.

I love Elena Rogers' vocals, but I'm not a fan of the recent London Cast Recording. The tempos are too slow (much slower than what was played in the theatre).

Actually for some reason I really like Elena's "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," but for the majority of the rest the accent's too much for me...like in Buenos Aires!

phantomo88- Thanks. I looked at the itinerary..it already played here in MA. in Lowell on 1/10 but for one day only?! and its coming back again in MA on 4/17 in Springfield, MA & 5/7 in Colonial Theater in Pittsfield ..not in Boston..
Why is it only 1 day on most of its performance/venue? Is it a concert format with no sets? ( the US TOUR..)

"God forbid they sound like latinos."
Especially when no one else does.
When I saw the 1999 EVITA tour (with Natalie Toro and Raúl Esparza), it bugged the hell out of me when they'd pronounce "Argentina" as "Arrhenteena." Thus, "Don't cry for me, Arrhenteena" and "A new Arrhenteena" just sounded anomalistic.

In order to enjoy Elena you'd need of seen her full performance...her vocals alone aren't that stellar, but together was a killer combination.

Hmm... I'm pretty sure those rumors are just rumors. With the way Sir ALW controls his holdings now, it would take an awful lot of interest on his part to make the recording happen.
The current tour is also non-Equity which is why there are so many single nights and split weeks. It's Troika - for better or worse, they've mastered the downsizing of touring shows. The current tour only travels and uses a six person pit orchestra.

J*r, the reason this tour stops at so many small places for one night, is because it is non equity. Here are some other current tours you may not have know of:
