No Kicks, PJ (who works at the Neil Simon) is correct: Caissie did indeed blow her voice out at one time and was out off and on for several weeks. It isn't why she left because, as you said, Degarmo returned, but she did indeed have some vocal problems.I think it was just a bad stroke of luck (I saw her as an u/s on tour and found her spectacular, every bit as good as Kerry Butler.)
Although she may not be able to sustain Elphaba full time, let's remember she is only an u/s, and will maybe go on once if she is with the show for over a year (and that's being generous.)
She is most likely staying for a limited time anyway, since the girl she is replacing (Brandi Chavonne Massey) is supposedly planning on coming back in a few months.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
