Nowack - not sure what my perception of his age has to do with these posts. I could care less if he was 6, 16, or 60. I am simply giving him a dose of his own medicine. I believe the thread that I am referring to was eventually deleted... So, it's fine. Just talk out of your Ass without any background knowledge or contextual history.
Thanks, Fantod! You're the first person on this board to call me lovely.

Oh come on on Liza. The real Liza would want you to be loving and kind. Don't be that way.

The "background knowledge or contextual history" that I based my assumption on was the relentless bashing Fantod has received from you and others ever since revealing his true age. And also the multitudes of comments degrading him as being insignificant due to it.

So... "Kid Victory" started previews last night. I'm very curious to hear reactions from people who have seen it. Anyone?

I would love to hear any reports about KID VICTORY as I am visiting Washington in March and am considering buying tiks.
The commercial is so great. I can't wait to hear about this

I have my tickets for next Friday and will be sure to post my thoughts...
I also have tickets to see it soon. I think I'm going on Sunday the 22nd, but I'm not positive, as I didn't buy the ticket.

For anyone familiar with the theatre-- I'm pretty sure the seats marked $47 are partial view, but do you know how bad the view is? Would it be better just to get the $90 tickets? Thanks!!
^It's hard to say. "Partial view" for me for Gypsy and Sunday In the Park With George was sitting on these extremely uncomfortable bar stools on the side. So you have people sitting in chairs in front of you, then bars and the railing in front of them, and then you have the regular seats and stage.
I got extremely lucky with SITPWG and there were a ton of seats open in the main orchestra section so they let us fill them up. It's really up to you! I think the prices are so ridiculous but I doubt it will appear on Goldstar so I might suck it up and get partial view.

The show has several dates available on Goldstar. I've been waiting to hear some reviews here before deciding to buy!
This show was pretty freaking bad. It was very disturbing, the music was unmemorable, the lead actor was not believable as a young teenager, the book seemed very stilted, the story lacked a point and meandered a lot and seemed unresolved at the end. There were some highly graphic and gruesome violent scenes. I left feeling very unsettled and uncomfortable and longing to see one of the musicals that I know and love. Highly disappointing. For god's sake, save your time and money and do not buy tickets to this show.
Fantod..."don't let the bastards get you down." I forget the origins of this quote, but it is appropriate here. Please don't let one person cause you to consider quitting here. I've learned how to deal with negative people in here. You can too. Besides, if someone is being really loathesome to you, you can always use our ignore feature.
Kid Victory is something very special, experimental and unique. If you like to be challenged by musicals, then you will enjoy this show. Even though there are a couple graphic scenes, they are necessary to demonstrate what happened to fundamentally change Luke while he went missing for a year.
I thought the score was quite good and the story was well-plotted. It can be hard to follow a bit, as some is told in flashbacks and the chorus comes in and out to provide context and support moments, but it all comes together as the show ends. The cast is mostly excellent--standouts included Christiane Noll as the overbearing mother, Sarah Litzsinger as the quirky confidant, and Jeffrey Denman as the change agent for Luke. These three actors were remarkable.
The ending of Kid Victory, for me, was so well constructed musically and emotionally that I was moved to tears. The last moment provides a great deal of hope and optimism and makes Luke's journey (even the rough spots) rewarding. Again, this musical will not be for everyone, but if you are up for a challenge, you should not miss Kid Victory.
Note: The show is a little less than 2 hours long with no intermission. Given that the set stretches across the entire stage at Signature, I would have to guess that the partial view seats are not great. That said, the show I attended they were moving people from the partial view seats into the main section as there were plenty of seats available.
I bought my ticket after watching this trailer, mostly because John Kander looks so into it when he is playing the piano.

Thanks for posting, Broadway Stud. I am a huge fan of John Kander. Got to see "The Landing" and wish I could see this show. But I live on the west coast with no plans to get to Arlington.
Signature Theatre tweeted out this video today that highlights some of the songs from Kid Victory. It makes me want to go see it again.

I'm very very psyched to see this.
A new Kander score (it sounds lovely from that clip) and a musical that looks like it has something to say. They don't sugar coat the fact that it's a dark show in the commercial either.
I have to mention it's the third musical (that I can think of) with a song called "People Like Us", and they are all thematically similar.

Surely Corine will do another interview with John Kander just prior to the opening date.
