As it looks pretty definate Les Mis will be playing cardiff over Christmas, just wondering if any other dates have been mentioned, I assume Cameron is doing a new number 1 tour?
And a while back I did hear a rumour he was going to send Les Mis and Miss Saigon on the road at the same time, just wondered if anyone had heard anything about that?
I wouldnt have thought they would need to stunt cast this. However that has jogged a memory that wasnt there a rumour years back Michael ball would be touring Les Mis?!
He already played JVJ at the special version they did at Windsor Castle and I think it was after that, and him mentioning it on TV (This Morning I think). Agree a tour is unlikely, and can he hit the high notes required for JVJ?
Someone on DC has posted the press release, looks like a world tour so UK Dates may well be limited.
Press release: The award-winning musical Les Misérables is to premiere its first world tour for 15 years at Wales Millennium Centre (11 December 2009 ? 16 January 2010). ?Les Miz? is the fourth Cameron Mackintosh show to visit the Centre and further cements the venue?s special relationship with the acclaimed producer.
Wales Millennium Centre Chief Executive Judith Isherwood said: ?Les Miz is one of the world?s greatest musicals, and it demands to be performed on one of the world?s greatest stages. That?s why we are the first-choice tour venue outside London, adding to the icing on the 5th Birthday cake. Over the past five years, the Centre has continued to strengthen its position at the forefront of musical theatre in the UK and across the world.? I read in an interview with Claude-Michel Schonberg that Les Mis will return to Paris next year as part of a world tour (performed in english) - this seems to be the start of that tour.
Silly question but what will this mean for the current West End Production? I know that it's possible for a show to tour while having a West End Production such as Blood Brothers, WWRY, Chicago etc but The Queen's has been due for a refurbishment for a while and unless Les Mis moves to another theatre then it's possible that will close.
All the big West End musicals from 'Phantom' to 'Miss Saigon' have all tour the UK with incredible success and to to harm to the original. There is no sign that this tour of 'Les Mis' will effect its original.
