Any idea when the new Matilda's will be announced? Brooklyn Shuck had her last performance last Saturday and the website only lists the other three girls (Tori, Eliza, and Fina) as Matilda's, so shouldn't an announcement be made soon?

I think grammatically it's supposed to be "the new Matildases."

Yes! I always get those words confused.

Well actually we are waiting to hear the names of the new "Nextildas"...
The biggest kept secret around...I don't think it's allowed for them to have only 3 girls playing Matilda.... as you can't change the numbers in a cast once it's starts, right? So I am sure they can get by for a short time but not for long..
You can only increase the number of total cast members; you can't decrease. In a certain role, though? Not sure.

Plus these girls have been there for a longer time than any others as a group - so who the heck knows..
The wait continues...
I do not believe a new set of Matildas or a single new Matilda will be announced soon. The girls have not grown out of the role, and have already lasted longer than any other team.
With the tour going down to only using a rotation of 3 girls, I believe the current 3 will go until Sept. when Lesli, (and maybe Alison and Chris) leave.
Aren't the matildas on 9 month contracts? I'm guessing this is around the time that replacements should be kicking in. If not then why is brooklyn the only one to leave?

I don't know. Maybe The tour is doing 7 shows a week - not 8. They do not have a mid week matinee.
Not many of the girls ever really "outgrew" the part. Original Matilda Sophia G was younger and smaller than 3 of the "Newtildas" that followed. They just had a limited contract that ended and they left. Again, I am not sure what the rule is about downsizing the cast in this case..it's usually not allowed.
Brooklyn left because she is reprising her role in "Beaches" when it makes its premiere in Chicago later next month.
I'm pretty sure that there are no "rules"...if they wanted 1 girl to play Matilda 8x a week, I think they can legally do it. (A la Annie, Fun Home, etc.)

You could be right but I am not thinking so much of if they want ONE Annie or ONE Matilda. It's like they set the show with 4 Matildas..and I don't know if you can change that after the fact after it's Frozen. Once a show is set, it's set.
Well sort of..you can have MORE if you feel someone is being overworked and can't handle it, you can hire extras...but I don't know the rules about cutting back.
Again, I don't know..I am just thinking out loud.
Just for reference, tours DO have 8 shows a week. There is no mid-week matinee, but they have 4 show weekends (2 on Sat., 2 on Sun.).

A new girl, maybe more, has been rehearsing for about 3-4 weeks now. Now sure how long the typical rehearsal period is.

Sorry for the misinformation when I said 7 shows. I actually saw one website in one city that said 7 shows..but I just looked at two websites for the LA run, and one has a week with 8 shows and the other has 9 for the same week (with two Thurs, Sat AND Sun shows).
Obviously the sites are not all accurate and I must have pulled info off a faulty one. My apologies for not checking more carefully.

I'm seeing the show tomorrow night and I know that Saturday night is typically the final performance for a Matilda. What are the (probably slim) chances that I'll be seeing Fina, Tori, or Eliza's final show?
Cast members will be posting on social media tomorrow if someone is leaving. I am fairly certain no one is leaving. I stand by my original statement that the current three will helm the show until September.
There are new Matildas in rehearsal. They have been since mid April. I don't know when they will start, but it should be soon.

I believe that the official rehearsal time is 8-10 weeks so it looks like the current Tinytildas with the exception of Brooklyn extended for maybe one month..
No one has left without a least a few days notice that the new girls are coming in..so it's highly unlikely that anyone is leaving this weekend.
