Hello, all,
My friend and I are considering a trip to NYC in January (the MLK week). Yes, we know the weather could be frightful, but I'm from the midwest, can't be much different.
So the question is, will a lot of shows be closed by then? Or will they be limping along so we can get 50% off tickets? Are we insane?? We have already seen a lot of the "biggies" (Pippin, Mormon, Hedwig). Have not seen Matilda, Side Show is looking interesting, and it could be an adventure! (or a really bad decision).
Thoughts?

As it stands now we're losing Once, Cinderella and Pippin on January 3rd and 4th as well as several limited run plays. Motown ends the 18th.
Side Show remains to be seen, but you could definitely get tickets to Matilda or something like that that isn't in danger of closing. If you're here on the holiday it would be more crowded than say, the week after the 4th, but it certainly won't be bad.

Doesn't seem like you're fixed on specific shows, and January is a slow month, so you'll get discounts to whatever is open. I wouldn't stand out in the cold for 50% off, when I could book 40% off online in advance in a heated room, though. But that's me.
Honeymoon in Vegas will be open then.
And, most importantly, Hamilton starts its run at the Public on January 20. You won't get discounts, but maybe you can still get a seat.

Put me in the Side Show club as well. I also recommend:
- On the Town
- Gentleman's Guide
- Kinky Boots
- Matilda
- IF/THEN
- Honeymoon in Vegas
