Posted: 7/9/04 at 11:55pmHave seen a lot of opinions, comments, etc., on Joey Fatone's performance in Little Shop of Horrors, but nothing on Robert Evan who took Doug Sills place. I loved Dougie...don't know anything about Robert Evan. Educate me.

Posted: 7/10/04 at 1:03amI haven't seen him in the role, but I have no doubt that Rob is doing an excellent job. The man rarely disappoints. He was the original 2-show-a-week Jekyll and Hyde, and I strongly preferred him over Cuccioli. He was also a very strong Valjean in various Les Mis tours and was recently seen as The Dancin Kid in the "interesting" off-Broadway musical "Johnny Guitar". I'd love to hear a review from someone who has seen him as the Dentist. It'll be hard to beat Sills comedically, but his sung parts (all 10 seconds of them) will be heavenly. If they're gonna get such great singers to play the Dentist, they need to give him more to sing.

Posted: 7/10/04 at 2:32amI saw him as Jean Valjean, and I didn't care for his voice. His acting was very strong, but I couldn't get past that grating whine.

Posted: 7/10/04 at 9:00amHow is he at portraying the various characters? I have great difficulty picturing him looking different enough...and especially can't picture him in the scene in a dress. Douglas played these roles really well. I haven't seen Rob in Little Shop but did not care for him in Jekyll&Hyde. His singing was o.k. but his acting fell short of Cuccioli's ability.

I saw Rob Evan in "Johnny Guitar." He was so funny as the Dancin' Kid. Who knew he was such a cutup!! He definitely has a flare for comedy. He's excellent in concert, too.
Great voice and great stage presence. Thanks for all the input re his performance in Little Shop. Let's hope a strike doesn't put that show out of business.

Posted: 7/11/04 at 12:38amHe's not Douglas Sills, but he is very good. His Orin is still crazy, but Douglas Sills is a better comedic actor. But, all in all, he's very good. Little Shop IS GREAT! GO SEE IT!
