DOWLING MUSIC, a very large music store, specializing in theatre collections and classical material, has opened on 57th Street, near Sixth Avenue; (109 West 57th Street ) - the second floor of The Steinway Building.
Large selection of complete vocal scores and vocal anthologies.
Many Broadway music folk at the official opening. I spotted Larry Moore (orchestrator), Bruce Pomohac (R & H), and Michael Dansicker (showing his latest Hal Leonard publications).
Hope it does very well.
Much needed resource since the closing of Patelson's Music.

Posted: 5/23/10 at 1:36pmWith the closing of not only Patelson's but also the high voltage Virgin Mega Store, the opening of a new music store in mid-town Manhattan is great news. Whenever I would feel down, a visit to my local HMV store (now also closed) would always perk up my spirits. While still enjoying surfing on Amazon.com, there is nothing like the real thing. I hope they do well.
