DOWLING MUSIC, a very large music store, specializing in theatre collections and classical material, has opened on 57th Street, near Sixth Avenue; (109 West 57th Street ) - the second floor of The Steinway Building.
Large selection of complete vocal scores and vocal anthologies.
Many Broadway music folk at the official opening. I spotted Larry Moore (orchestrator), Bruce Pomohac (R & H), and Michael Dansicker (showing his latest Hal Leonard publications).
Hope it does very well.
Much needed resource since the closing of Patelson's Music.
With the closing of not only Patelson's but also the high voltage Virgin Mega Store, the opening of a new music store in mid-town Manhattan is great news. Whenever I would feel down, a visit to my local HMV store (now also closed) would always perk up my spirits. While still enjoying surfing on Amazon.com, there is nothing like the real thing. I hope they do well.
Hhere is the anouncement on their website:

Patelsopn's closed?!?
Clearly, I haven't been in the neighborhood much...
