I would love to see Maya Days as Elphie. Her voice is amazing. London would be brilliant for her. I was there for one week last year and heard her song three times on the radio. I would rather her do Broadway so I could see it all the time.
ideal: victoria matlock and emily rozek (amazing together)
logical: victoria matlock and annaleigh ashford or katie clarke
and i can almost bet sebastian arcelus will replace derrick williams on broadway since as i recall he and kate reinders are/were dating
I saw Victoria Matlock as Elphaba and Annaleigh Ashford as Glinda. They were fantastic! I hope they're the ones to take over.
wicked_chitown, general ideas such as these about who they are looking for aren't anything that would cause anyone to lose their job, nor are they anything that BT are deathly trying to keep under wraps. Specific people who they are looking at? Yes, that's one thing. But saying that they are meeting with alot of new people isn't something that is shocking since they ARE a casting agency. I didn't give any names or anything that the company wouldn't want to get out, because if there were such information, she wouldn't tell it to me.
Most of the information I gave is already well known anyway. The Toronto extention has been highly reported in the papers there for weeks, and Maria Eberline's date of departure was given to fans from her, as well as openly discussed on her message board.
Just because Seb and Kate are dating doesn't necesarily (sp?) mean he'll be moved to Broadway. Not that I don't want that to happen. I love Sebastian, as a person and in this role, and he deserves to go to Broadway.
Although I'm not sure if everything is quite dandy with Sebastian and Kate. He was having a big argument on the phone with her when he was in Boston. It wasn't pretty. But who knows?

although Maya Days has been seen for the role of Elphaba many times, and would kick ass in the role, I am pretty sure that she is not taking over on tour and will probably not be involved in the show at anytime. I heard this from a friend whos is close with her.

Having just seen Victoria Matlock perform on Sunday night in Cleveland (July 2) I am sending my letter to the producers in hopes they will promote this talent to the lead role. Her performance rivited this longtime critic and theatre gooer.
I saw the show again on Wednesday with Maria Eberline, and I can say, with conviction, that she shall not be promoted. I am unaware of her previous performances, and I will not bash people in a cruel manner, but I was embarrassed and found it difficult to sit through. It became painfully clear to me why a standby is needed in this role. I found it astounding how one performer could change an entire show so dramatically; Sunday I saw an excellent national tour production perfomance, and Wednesday something like my nephews high school musical.
Excuse my harsh words, I intend no offense only observation, and hope have the opportunity to see Miss Matlock again before she leaves Cleveland. Perhaps we'll find out soon that I can begin purchasing tickets for next years tour thru the midwest.
Best of luck!
Both Victoria Matlock and Maria Eberline are leaving the tour in the coming months, so neither of them will be promoted. Victoria told fans she is leaving during Toronto in December, and Maria has said her last day is at the end of October.
Sebastian Arcelus told fans he is leaving at the end of September and that he might be transfering to the Broadway company, since Derrick Williams is supposedly leaving (along with Eden) on October 8th.
In regards to him and Kate Reinders.. I believe they are no longer dating.

Please read again what I wrote above. From what she said on Sunday night, Victoria's contract ends in Decemeber although it certainly seems like she would love to go on full time, and as a newly estblished fan, I support that idea.
Principle players have specific contract dates so the dates Sebastian and Victoria speak of would be the end of their current contracts. As ensemble memeber, Maria has the choice to give her notice at anytime, so if she has stated she is leaving then one must assume she is giving her notice.
I'm not sure where everyone obtains their information but I'm going on what I know of contractual obligation and what I heard from the people currently discussed on this forum. Thanks for reading!
I hope she does stay, but from what she told me in an email, she said if she wasn't taking over it looked as if she would be leaving at the end of her contract.
Maria has confirmed on her message board that she is leaving at the end of October to spend more time with her family.

Just because Maria has "paid her dues" doesn't mean she deserves to be bumped up. She's signed a contract and merely covers the role of Elphaba part time if there is nobody else to do so.
I don't enjoy her at all in the role, and I don't think that just because she's played the role before and been in the ensemble since the beginning means she must deserve to take the role of Elphaba full time.
I really could go for a fresh face in Wicked right about now.
Get your facts straight, folks. Otherwise, don't post!
Get their facts right? At least all of their posts don't end with "wait, they're gay, right?"
I just saw Wicked in Cleveland for the first time last night. Amazing show for the first time. Maria played Elphaba and she was amazing. I was somewhat disapointed that Julia wasn't there. I heard she left the tour tho.
The funny thing I noticed was that Kendra lost her shoe during Dancing Through Life causing her to laugh a lot. It worked well because she got more into character by embarrassing herself onstage.
Julia is only gone for the last week. She had prier plans (i think rosie's cruise). She will be back for the next stop of the tour
oh wicked... the once respectable broadway musical.
what a game it has turned into.
I thought it was Matlock for the week that Julia was gone in Cleveland?
I've heard great things about her and...well, less than great about Maria, and I'm going tonight...
I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised and very impressed with Kendra and Sebastian when I saw it opening nighit in Cleveland, as well as by Julia Murney (amaaaaazing!). Is there a reason that other Glindas have been moved from other productions to Broadway and Kendra's been overlooked? I thought she was possibly the best Glinda I've seen so far...
What are the chances of Murney taking over on b'way? I thought she was incredible and had such a different take on the character; it'd be nice to see someone not just doing an Idina impression with the role on b'way...
megan and shosh
are only doing the tour for 3 stops
shosh is then promoting for her album, she will not stay on tour i beleive

I also saw the show in Cleveland on and Victoria Matlock was excellent as Elphaba. Having seen the OBC in New York, I absolutely loved Kristin and Idina and wasn't sure how much I would like the other performers. The acting was fabulous, the singing was fabulous and I was thrilled to see the show again. I would love to see Victoria as Elphaba again
I very rarely come on these boards adn say anything negative cause I get so sick of all the nastiness some people go on with, however...
I just saw the tour with Victoria, and I have to say, I was less than impressed.
I think she is very talented, but she seems so out of her element as Elphaba. Her voice sounds like...Disney to me. Like she should be doing a voice over for one of their cartoons, or playing Belle. It was so sweet, so it lacked some of the edge I attribute with Elphaba for me.
I think she's a strong actress and has a beautiful voice, I just think she'd fare better in something less edgy as Elphaba. She wsa so....nice and normal it seemed like, I dunno.
I can't quite put my finger on it, but something wasn't right for me watching her and listening to her sing that stuff.
Curious to see what she does next though, she seems like someone we could be hearing a lot more of...
I really enjoy Victoria's Elphaba.. I think she brings a nice fresh spin on it that we haven't seen in a long time. For that, I commend her.
HOWEVER.. I feel she keeps her portrayal too "young." Her singing sounds that way and her acting reflects it too. That is fine for Act 1... but she never goes any further with the character in Act 2. The change in Elphaba isn't felt nearly as much (or really at all) as it is intended to with her. Alot of her problems could be fixed with more time on stage, and since she is a standby, I understand she doesn't have that luxury. She already has a great foundation set... if she worked on her character arc and her tone in the singing, I think she could be a heck of dynamo in this role.

Well, at the begining of June Ana Gasteyer posted this bulletin on myspace:
I appreciate everything that you have done for the show, and my career. I wish you all the best of luck and I will be doing a couple more shows of wicked, so give my regards to brodway!
Ana Gasteyer
I messaged her back asking if she would be doing a few more shows in Chicago and she responded saying, " I may be doing it in different cities, but not Chicago."
Haven't heard anything since about her doing the show...so this probably fell though or something.
By saying "give my regards to Broadway," it would make me think she meant she was going to play the role in NY.
Can you link to the MySpace? I found one claiming to be her offical one, but the latest blog post is February... is it confirmed the one you mention is actually her?

Yes, her last blog is dated from Feburary, but what I posted what a bulletin she has posted, meaning it doesn't show up on her myspace page.
On myspace there is really no 100% way to be sure it's someone page, but I'm faily certain that is her "real" page.
