"Oh and note the term "Angel of Music" is also NOT from the book. It was a lyric for the show."
By what means indeed but that of music? He knew Christine's story. After her father's death, she acquired a distaste of everything in life, including her art. She went through the Conservatoire like a poor soulless singing-machine. And, suddenly, she awoke as though through the intervention of a god. The Angel of Music appeared upon the scene! She sang Margarita in Faust and triumphed!...
The Angel of Music!...For three months the Angel of Music had been giving Christine lessons....Ah, he was a punctual singing-master!... And now he was taking her for drives in the Bois!...
From Gaston Leroux's "The Phantom of the Opera," chapter 9, as translated by Alexander Teixeira de Mattos.
Thank you! At least someone has done their research...
You guys can bash it all you want, it's still gonna happen. So you're wasting your time.
Except that you've completely sidestepped the fact that we have pointed out you are in a murky area in terms of copyright... and that you have plagiarized at least one piece of ALW's music.
And when and where is this happening, anyway?
Even if you take away the alleged "bashing", even if we think it is the best thing since ALW's Phantom, it is still a violation of copyrights set just 30 years ago.
Look at Yeston's Phantom. Same classic novel. Completely different libretto and music. No problem.
Considering that ALW has a copyright on the score, the copyright will not expire until 70 years after the man has croaked. Now, Pink Floyd did not sue ALW, but his people will definitely not be as kind.
And now I'm done trying to insert some logic into your creative process.

It isn't happening. As soon as RUG catches wind of it they will get a cease and desist order and that will be that.
You are in for the biggest shock if you:
a- think this is going to work
b- think that the music is Broadway material
c- think that Andrew Lloyd Webber would let you cop his work
But by all means have a try....
Well, good luck with it all. I have a feeling you're going to need it once RUG and ALW's legal team are alerted to this. Run for the hills, I say.
okay I listened to some of the "soundtrack" and I'm by no means a theatre expert but I do spend a fair amount of my hard earned money on tickets (as does everyone else here on these boards) and you wanted our opinions so here it goes:
1. I felt "Forever in Shadow" was the 'best' and that's using the term loosely. It was about a 3 out of 10. It was slow, and difficult to follow as far as understanding the point. We get that he's tortured by his physical appearance, we got that in the first production.
2. The overture sounded just like the original score. I couldn't tell you what key its in or what chords you've changed it to but its sounds way too similar. "Phantom" was the first musical I saw and I listened to the OCR incessantly as a teenager.
3. The Living Corpse- yeah that one just needs to go, decide if he's going to talk or sing, he sounded like he was off the entire time. It was just not right.
After that I just had to stop. Look I get the feeling that this started off as a college project and its taken on a life of its own. Perhaps instead of trying to reinvent the wheel you try writing your own original production. There's very little chance of anyone taking this seriously since its ALWAYS going to be compared to ALW's work.
In the end, I wouldn't pay to see this. I'm sorry.
If Love Never Dies failed epically then there's no way this musical fanfiction would survive an entire performance. Sorry, but this is just a thoughtless copy of the original. And the music is a complete drag. By no means am I affiliated with Broadway or the business of it, but I would highly suggest to quit while you're ahead.

BAHAHAHAHA!
Yeah, I'm sorry this is not going to work out for you. I have listened to the soundtrack and read the first few scenes in the libretto. This is even worse than the original and its god-awful sequel.
I assume you are one of the authors. Unfortunately, theatre people are almost never nice. Even if your show was amazing, it will certainly be shut down before it makes it to the stage.
Pink Floyd wouldn't have a leg to stand on if they sued. As I said in the other thread, they cribbed that theme from Vaughan Williams' London Symphony, first heard in 1914.
"Angel Of Music" - The Untold Musical Prequel To "The Phantom Of The Opera"
Monday via mobile
FYI, Angel of Music is a prequel to the STORY of The Phantom Of The Opera, NOT the ALW musical. We want to make that clear to everyone, especially all you guys on Broadwayworld.com who continue to bash us without having read the script or heard more than one of our songs. Thanks.

There is not a word in the English language that describes how bad this is. That is all.

Your libretto and story need work. You claim that it a prequel based on the book but in the book Erik Dies at the end. How can you have him tell Raoul his story 10 years after the Opera House event if he is dead!
