I sure hope not. The last revival was with Patti LuPone in 2008. It's way too soon for it to hit Broadway again, but if you really want to see a good production in the New York area, TWO theatre companies on Staten Island are doing it this year.
Harbor Lights in August (starring Sally Mayes) and In the Wings in November, cast TBA.
its way too soon for SPRING AWAKENING and THE COLOR PURPLE but that isn't stopping them.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

No problem for you...just don't see it then! I heard that Stauntons performance is incredible and I would love to see it.

Oh, it'd almost definitely be a transfer of the West End show? I wasn't aware of that. Staunton is a good pick for the role, but I'd fear she isn't well known enough on this side of the pond.

1. It's Gypsy. That alone can get people in the seats.
2. They can sell it using Staunton's ties to the Harry Potter films...People would recognize her as Delores Umbridge.

I would love new musicals to come to broadway. Its not like we have had any new musicals this season that have dealt with big issues.
The only one I would see now is if Merman came back from the dead & did it. If not, I am done with Gypsy. Enough is enough. Like a poster above said, enough is enough with the same shows being brought back over and over again.

The last two revivals of the show beg to differ with your first assertion, both of which failed to recoup, with the most recent revival closing even earlier than originally planned. So, despite the great, and very much deserved, love for this piece amongst the theatre community, it's not a guarantee that the title alone will fill seats.
Imelda Staunton has stated that she has no desire to do an extended run of any show in NY (if I recall she stated this when there was talk of Sweeney Todd possibly transferring). So, unless she has had a great change of heart, you would be looking at a very limited run that would require an absolutely insane, probably near impossible, recoupment schedule. Even if they could convince her to do the show for six months its hard to imagine a recoupment schedule that could be feasible for that time, unless the show looked even cheaper than the 2008 revival.
Thanks, Mr Roxy. Just putting it out there- if there's any "grand dame star vehicle" show that I think needs to be revived, it'd be Mame. But that's just a little dream of mine...and I'd want to play Agnes Gooch...Lol.
I do think it is time for Gypsy to be retired to regional theaters for a very long time.
Last year I saw Caroline O'Connor and she was magnificent[she is now doing Anything Goes]. The whole cast worked perfectly together with a star turn but collectively it was everyone on stage that made for a perfect evening.
As others have said, it's time for a Dolly, Mame, Funny Girl to see if they have another life[and star] in 2015/16 and let Gypsy RIP, at least for a long long time.
