I think they mean "go to" in terms of names that get tossed around here on BWW, not necessarily reflecting what is happening in real casting meetings.

"LORD, Cinderella ia an increcdibly bad show with incredibly awful music."

I completely disagree. I starred a production of it and fell in love with it even more. I love "Ten Minutes Ago," "In My Own Little Corner," "Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful," "Impossible," and "A Lovely Night." It's much better than the Walt Disney version, which was too scary for younger kids. It had a stepmother that was Satin's daughter and it had a nightmarish chase scene with the palace guards and Cinderella's coach. The mice were cute, but the "Cinderelly, Cinderelly" song got tiring after a while.

The R&H's version also had the Fairy Godmother teach Cinderella that you can't always rely on good faireis and guardian angels so much. Cinderella had to help herslef once in a while and she was able to do that at the ball. The prince's character was also expanded and he was able to love her for more than just her dress and good looks at the ball. Also in the end what matterd was who the slipper fit not who had the other one.

Allegro. I would die to see anyone tasteful and intelligent tackle Allegro.

I agree on the Cinderella and Allegro selections but an updated version.

Cinderella was also a great breakthrough role for Julie Andrews and Lesley Ann Warren when it aired on television. My mom loved the 1965 version because she would always watch Sturat Damon on "General Hospital" and she always loved Ginger Rogers. I also enjoyed the 1997 version with Brandy, Whitney Houston, and Bernadette Peters. Many well-known names have starred in touring productions of it including: Deborah Gibson, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, and Eartha Kitt (Next Rodgers & Hammerstein show on Broadway? RIP) who played the Fairy Godmother. I sadly didn't get to see Jamie-Lynn Sigler when it came to Dallas since she had throat problems, but Jessica Rush was wonderful. I also loved seeing Eartha Kitt live since she was so brillaint as Yzma in "Emporer's New Grove."

If I may add to the Cinderella tour:
Lea Salonga (Cinderella), Peter Saide (Prince) & Charlie Parker (Fairy Godmother) were in the 2008 international tour production.

Jordan, I could marry you for suggesting Kate Baldwin as Anna. (although my current dream role for her is the Baker's Wife in Into the Woods.)

I would love CINDERELLA with Audra as the Fairy Godmother. And Kristin Chenoweth as the Stepmother....kinda out of the box but still. And maybe an unkown in the title role.

Also, don't kill me for this: Taylor Swift as Cinderella. Seriously.

As for KING AND I, I would love Audra or Kelli as Anna.

cindarella would be awesome to see on broadway... perhaps they could go with the movie remake cast with brandy(cindarella), carol burnett(step mother) and whitney housten(fairy godmother)

either that or i would be majorly in favor of a carousel revival,... dunno how i would cast it

Trust me,... i'm a Broadway fan

I would love to see Sierra Boggess perform as Anna in ten years when she is a little bit older. I could see Sutton Foster playing Anna. Her voice is different, but I think she would make a great Anna.

I was royally obsessed with the R&H Cinderella with Brandy when I was younger! I would love to see that show on Broadway. I, however, that it needs to be rewritten a little. I haven't seen the one in between the original and Brandy's, but I think that the original's script was lacking, and I think that the newest one is almost good. It just needs some tweaking.

I've had a thing for The King and I since I was a kid, it would be great if it was revived again...I would LOVE to see Kate Baldwin as Anna, she'd be brilliant.

I'd also love to see someone try to tackle Allegro...I think it would be a good show for Encores.

Encores has already done Allegro. It was the second show they did, after Fiorello! in 1994.

Cinderella was done at the Papermill in 2005, and it was done very well. I wouldn't mind it if the team from that production reconvened for Broadway.

A revival of the King And I seemed uninteresting, until someone mentioned Kate Baldwin. Now it seems like a 'must'.

A Lincoln Center King & I would be great, but I think The Really Useful Group's Sound of Music has the best chance of making it to Broadway first.

The King & I is a favorite in my house, and I know a Lincoln Center production would be almost orgasmic in its beauty.

Didn't Christiane Noll do the singing in that wildly misbegotten cartoon version of "King and I"?

Sutton Foster for Anna? Seriously? Hardly to think of anyone who'd be more wrong for the part.
Laura Benanti is really perfect for the role, and it'd be sweet if she revived the show as she played Donna Murphy's younger sister in the Encores! WONDERFUL TOWN, they are friends and it'd be a nice little connection there. However, it'd be hard for anyone to match Murphy's Tony-winning Anna.
I have no interest in seeing Kelli O'Hara try her hand at it, but imagine she'd be one of the first choices if Sher is attached.
And while she's older than the rest of them, I think Ruthie Henshall would be fantastic as Anna!

I'd love to see Rachel York as Anna in The King and I. I think Rachel's talent is underappreciated, she is a fantastic all-rounder and would be perfect as Anna.

In a just world, talents like Rachel York and Judy Kuhn would be major stars.

There actually have been rumblings of a LCT/Sher directed KING AND I but I would imagine its at least four-five years down the road.

That's great, MichaelBennett.
I know she gets mentioned for just about every single role available but I really do think this would be a great show for Anne Hathaway to make her Broadway debut, especially under Sher's direction.

Don't you think she's a little young, ray? I suppose if this production should ever happen, it WOULD be at least 4 years from now, by which point Hathaway would be in her early 30's, so it could probably work.

I would actually love to see her as Mabel in a revival of the 80's Pirates of Penzance. It has as much chance of happening as Arthur Laurents hugging Sam Mendes, but I can dream.
