hmm, there's a good attitude, attack people who don't take you at your word.

AS I'VE SAID WHAT NOW FEELS LIKE 100 TIMES

we heard all of these same things during the run at Second Stage, most of them sounding much more official than this, and none of them came to fruition. I'm not being pessimistic, I am being honest, realistic and reserved. People int his thread are acting like some official announcement of a cast recording has been made, but that is simply not what has happened. A fan who runs an unofficial fansite posted on their myspace that a recording was happening citing no source and really no information whatsoever. Then the CRACK STAFF here decided to pick up the story and basically repeat the myspace bulletin posted and include some other non-related information about N2N, again citing NO SOURCE except the myspace fan page. We've been through all this before. Instead of getting my hopes up and listening to unsubstantiated rumors (that don't even cite a source for their origins) I'm going to wait until I see something official on Playbill or Sh-K-Boom (the logical choice to make any eventual recording).

I'm not trying to be rude or shoot you down, I'm trying point out the claims of an official announcement are incorrect.


I'm really not trying to be a buzzkill. I'm not even saying that the myspace page is necessarily wrong, I'm just saying that we should wait for an OFFICIAL announcement until we get excited so that we aren't all disappointed again if we have a repeat of what happened with the rumors of a 2st recording.

Sorry to yell, but there is a hell of a lot more info this time than there EVER was at Second Stage.

It is happening.

(Now...as for when it's released... Let's just hope Sh-K-Boom doesn't hold it as long as they did Little Fish.

Agree, JG. It sounds solid to me. NextoElectric: I really do respect your caution for yourself, since you've been burned on this stuff once already. Especially since I don't think you've been in these direct conversations with cast and crew that some of us have had. And since it's not backed by a press release from anyone yet. (Who would that come from, even? Sh-K-Boom?) But for what it's worth, I was listening to Adam's and Jennifer's parents talking with someone in the lobby before the show last night and they have contracts and studio dates and have had to clear calendars to do it, so it is much more than a rumor at this point.

I also think the reason it didn't happen after 2ST was that it wasn't done, as a show. Given the substantial change in tone and story, it makes sense to me that they didn't record it, knowing they were going to do more work for the Arena Stage production.

And Sondheim_G: I respectfully disagree, but that's what makes the world go 'round, eh? They can't use the 2ST version of Another Day and still get to where this version goes and this version sets up what the show has become, can they? And "Feeling Electric" is no longer inside the frame of this story. A Bonus Track, by Anthony Rapp as someone suggested earlier, might be very cool (I never heard him do it). And though I had to warm to J. Robert Spencer in the role because I so identified with Brian the first time I saw it, I think he's a great match for Alice. He's definitely my Dan Goodman now. And the original Madden made no impression on me (besides being out of synch with the rest of the show, which was not his fault) so I'll be very happy to hear Louis Hobson on my recording.

Yep, and I forgot to mention in my original post that aside from the MySpace bulletin and the Broadway World story, I spoke to Alice Ripley last week after a performance and she said "it looks like it's happening." So, lets just cross our fingers extra hard this time! :)

Like others on here, I think, or am hopeful that, this will come to fruition. I spoke to a cast member a week or so ago and that person confirmed it was indeed happening and would be out on Sh-K-Boom.

I am just thankful they do not plan to release it on Jay Records which would cause a wait of a few years.

Well, weren't cast members saying it was getting a recording while at Second Stage?

And, just because they say they are going to the studio and have dates, doesn't mean it won't fall through.

Maybe I'm just being too cautious, but I won't believe it until it happens.

The only thing I ever heard at Second Stage was that they wanted to record a cd, not that it was actually happening. And by the end of the run the cd wasn't happening since they knew they were planning on taking the show out of town and working on it more. I think the cd was only mentioned when they thought they might be transferring to broadway right after Second Stage.

The show for the most part is set now though so going into the recording studio makes much more sense.

but everyone, from Michael Greif, Tom Kitt, Brian Yorkey on down, knows about the sites. Ms. Ripley and Mr. Spencer have contributed items to the website. I have applied for official status, and should N2N transfer, I'll follow up on it.

Yay this is fantastic! The score is fantastic, but I'm not a fan of some of the changes they made in D.C. (Hell, I still miss Costco, which they cut back at Second Stage).

I wish d'Arcy James was still involved thought, but either way I'll take Alice Ripley and Aaron Tveit.

I have never seen this show but I was watching a few clips youtube and it looks amazing. I am a huge fan of Brian so I would have loved to see him in this. To bad he is not still in it to do the recording I was wondering if anyone has any other videos from when Brian was in it? Would love to see more :)

that article STILL only quotes the myspace fanpage and links to it. there is no amount of official information in that article.
