I have to disagree with the position that H2S is not as "demanding" as singing Marius in "Les Miz." Finch's songs are actually quite challenging both emotionally and vocally as are his dance numbers especially in this particular revival.

I have doubts with respect to Darren Criss's ability to sing Finch's numbers especially after hearing his version of Tony in "Glee's" take on "West Side Story." He really sounded like an actual high school boy singing Tony's songs instead of a trained professional singer like Larry Kert, Jose Carreras, Vittorio Grigolo, Matthew Cavenaugh et al. Criss's lack of vibrato bothered me to no end and that may not bode well for his Broadway debut. He's probably better off as a studio singer than a live one. In one clip I saw on YouTube where he duets with Lea Salonga on "A Whole New World" at some fete for Alan Menken, it was patently clear that Criss has many vocal limitations especially when juxtaposed to Salonga's still impeccable voice.

And, yes, the show runners are still casting Finch too young but I guess that's what the masses want.

Yes, the Matthew Broderick production simply said H2$. IMHO, this is one of those shows where it's kinda hard not to get it.

But m money on the colour of the next bow tie is still yellow, not red. Look at the progression.

I think it's totally a matter of taste- I for one have very little doubt that I'll feel Darren can easily handle the How To Succeed music :) It's true he doesn't have much vibrato, but I've never minded that so much, and I actually kind of like the more raw quality to his voice. I think there's something refreshing about the fact that he sounds like a typical guy who happens to have a lovely voice, rather than a perfectly trained and polished Broadway singer, you know? Not to say I don't appreciate perfect Broadway singers, but especially for a show like How To Succeed I feel like Darren will make it work with his voice, and it will have a certain charm to it.

Anyhow, I really don't see how anyone could argue he'd have any more trouble with the score than Dan, who is lovely but hardly the greatest singer either.

Oh, also speaking of Something's Coming, Darren actually just did it live the other night, and I personally think he sounded great- better than the recording :)

I mean he still doesn't have tons of vibrato or anything, but he just sounds more comfortable with the song and added his own somewhat jazzy touch to it


Anyway, sorry for the OT! To get back on topic:
haha, the Nick poster is definitely my least favorite. Though I do like the changing color of the bow ties :P But I don't get why they changed the background and took out the rest of the title...

Based on what I've heard from Jonas, Criss and Daniel Radcliffe, and I can't believe I'm gonna say this, I find Radcliffe to be the most vocally technically proficient of the three. Maybe both Criss and Jonas will surprise the audience in New York. Who knows?

The Jonas poster looks lame. At least he looks relaxed unlike how uncomfortable he appeared throughout the 25th "Les Miz" concert. I'm sure his fans will eat it up big time nonetheless.

I don't really know about Nick (from the little I've heard of him I'm not really a fan), but from what I've heard between Dan and Darren, Darren is definitely the stronger singer to me. I mean I'm certainly no expert, so maybe I'm wrong, but to me Darren at least sounds better. He may not have the most powerful voice or much vibrato, but to me it's obvious Darren's been singing all his life and is very good at knowing how to use what he does have effectively

Then again, maybe I just prefer his tone to Dan's- like I said, I'm not an expert :) But I do know I prefer Darren's voice by quite a bit

Honestly I enjoyed Radcliffe in the role, and I think Darren will do pretty well too. Based on what i've seen of him, I don't think I will like Jonas nearly as much...

I'm guessing the poster will have the full title on it. I noticed the version that Nick is using as his Twitter profile picture has the complete title on it as well as different colors for the names of the actors:



Also, I read on Twitter today that they will be releasing a 5 song digital EP of some of the music from the show featuring Nick. Don't know when that will be released though.

Agreed. What you are saying is that you think Nick Jonas is an incompetent idiot based on Youtube videos of a performance, while assuming that Jonas made the offending choices on his own accord only during the performances, never in rehearsal, and that Mitchell couldn't possibly have stopped them or have directed him to do so.

Me too! I'd have to hear Darren Criss recording on the CD. But I doubt they will do that for such short 3 week run. I hope the souvenir program will have Darren instead of Dan.
