Nightmare cast of Rent- Page 3

She was just 'weird' in the role. Not Maureen weird, but crazy ass 'why on earth would anyone...let alone Joanne' like her . Simon Cowell would have likeability problems with her! (Onstage that is, i'm sure she's a lovely person). She also had a slightly weird French/English/Canadian/US Celine Dion type speaking voice. I didn't see her from the rush seats...if I had I may have got up, slapped her and ask her why she was being weird. Ditto Bonny Lockhart who was our first Benny. Is a US accent and an ability to sing it like it was written really THAT hard? x

Ugh, Patronus, why do I have the feeling that some of those AI people may actual pop up in Rent if the movie doesn't boost sales enough to the producers liking? *knocks wood*

You know what would be REALLY great, is if we could just switch out the current RENT cast with the current cast from another show. lol What would be the worst then? Ok, well, I know it's no longer playing, but how about this one? RENT switches with the cast of Little Women! Imagine it...Sutton Foster as Maureen....Maureen McGovern as MIMI! lol Ohhhh....that's really a nightmare!

scary spice was a nightmare! as was manly pope when i saw him. and as for future casting- pamala anderson as maureen.

Joey Fatone actually was fine as Mark acting/singing-wise, he just didn't look the part
There was a tour cast I saw a about 4 or 5 years ago that had an absolutely horrible Collins who played the role like he would have rather played Angel

Kelly Clarkson has an amazing voice, why shouldn't she be on Broadway?

So does Celine Dion, but that doesn't necessarily mean she'd be good acting in a Broadway show. Not saying that I dont think Kelly deserves a chance if she wants to be on Broadway tho. Hopefully she would a get a role because she deserves it, not just because of her popularity, but it's not like we haven't seen stunt casting just for the sake of stunt casting before.

What about when Caprice played Maureen....I heard she wasn't even really singing her songs.

I personally think that Beyonce' could have played Mimi..in the movie...she would have been sexy as hell...I deep down inside you know she would have been good.

Mariah Carey as Mimi..wait thats scary as hell cause her nickname is Mimi...Aaaaaaaahhhhhhh...anyways I wouldn't have a problem with it but she would do a Pearl Bailey and when the crowd cheered for her she would do the whole scene again.

I heard somewhere that Justin Timberlake was really trying to be roger in the movie. I'm not a huge adam pascal fan but that would have been terrible!

As for Jessica Simpson( or any little pop diva) as Maureen (or mimi, or joann, or ANYONE), NOOOOO NO NONONONONONO! I'd rather they close the show. Though I'm sure simpson doing girl on girl would boost the sales....

I realize this is an old thread, but I've never understood the point of listing actors who you feel would be horrible in certain roles. I could say Rosie O'Donnell and Star Jones for ALL of the roles and probably trump anyone's well thought-out "nightmare cast."
