Nine shows - one week - u pick

Whatever you decide, please take some time to visit one or two off-Broadway shows. Perhaps something at the Public Theatre, Playwrights Horizons, New York Theatre Workshop or Manhattan Theatre Club (depending on when you come). Off-Broadway can be a great experience.

Wicked was also REALLY good. I highly recommend seeing Wicked.

POTO, of course, along with Chicago and Avenue Q are other good choices.

I don't know what your taste is. But see Wicked and Q if anything because the original casts are in it. You will be able to hear the cast recordings for years knowing you saw it with those people. Personally ; I think the current production of Gypsy is a bore.. but it plays on Monday nights when alot of other shows are dark.

Thoroughly Modern Millie- see it before Sutton Foster leaves! then it will become a corny, flashy, okay show.

Wicked, Avenue Q, & Hairspray are definately 'must see' shows and very worth the money. If you want to see an great actor giving a land-mark performance in a mediocre show, check out the Boy From Oz or Gypsy. If bland cotton-candy fluff is your bag, you may enjoy Millie or Mamma Mia ~ I certainy didn't. If the thought of watching a train wreck is worth your money (even with a deep-discount), go see Taboo or Little Shop of Horrors. And if your whirl-wind trip leaves you tired and needing a nap, there is always Phantom of the Opera.

Definitely Avenue Q, Wonderful Town, and Wicked. If you haven't seen Phantom of the Opera in New York yet, that's also worth a visit, especially since the fabulous Hugh Panaro is now playing the Phantom. 42nd Street is fun, because it's a good, old fashioned, New York musical. Gypsy is one of the best musicals ever written, and Bernadette delivers an incredible performance that I heard has only gotten stronger in recent months.

As far as plays go, definitely see Golda's Balcony, because it's a phenomenal piece, and Tovah Feldshuh is amazing in it.

And for something off-Broadway, Forbidden Broadway is hysterical if you keep up-to-date with the theatre scene. If not, you might find yourself seriously confused.

That's only seven. Oh, well!

Well as nother point of view.. The Chris Plummer "King Lear" is opening & a friend saw the runthru He LOVED it! ( and he hates runthrus!!) sooo if u are classically minded...Just a thought.
