No Hello Dolly Gypsy Robe ceremony coverage?

This is sad. It is a beautiful tradition and I have always enjoyed watching the different productions doing their celebration.

It is a bit of a turn off that there is no coverage. Hopefully they were still able to have the ceremony.

I was thinking the same thing. With all the credits the ensemble members have, I was curious as to who was selected.

Jennifer Foote was awarded the Gypsy Robe. I wish we were getting a little more photos and press coverage of this production that focused more on the production and not so much on Bette. There was also no drawing from Squigs that is featured on Broadway.com before a show opens. It just seems odd to me.

Could Rudin be sidelining some money for Hello Dolly press towards his other failing shows? Or maybe he simply wants it to be more of a secret.

What are his failing shows? And why would coverage of the gypsy ceremony cost him money? Isn't it usually some queen with a camera? ( No disrespect .. I wish that queen were me)

All these things people are mentioning missing in this thread aren't things shows do for fun. They're done to generate press and stoke interest in order to sell tickets. This show doesn't need to sell tickets so they're not doing anything.

People are forgetting that this is the same exact strategy Rudin employed with THE BOOK OF MORMON. Everything was kept under lock and key to preserve the feeling of it being an "event" in the theater. That's what he's replicating here.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Yeah, but weren't there way more red carpet and opening night party photos for Mormon?

Squigs posted on Twitter that he was sorry, but he couldn't get a ticket to the show. So that is why there was no drawing.

Who buys tickets because of photo coverage of the Gypsy Robe ceremony?

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

It is a beautiful ceremony that has been going on for years and I have always enjoyed the pictures and coverage BWW has been able to provide. It is a real shame that Hello , Dolly wasn't included in the coverage. This would only have appealed to aficionados and has nothing to do with promotion or image of the show. Gee... I hope the company os allowed to participate in other community events.. like the fundraisers and baseball games.

I did see gypsy robe photos for this show. Everyone was standing around the passarel.

Now if I could only remember where I saw it...
