No new Hedwig promo photos for JCM?

Hi all:

I've been silently watching these boards for Hedwig news/discussion since I saw it first in May, so I'm wondering if anyone else has been speculating on why there's been no new promo photos for JCM in Hedwig. If I recall, the promos for Andrew Rannells and MCH came out about 3-4 weeks before each of their debuts. JCM is a week away and nothing! I'm itching to see something.

Does anyone think they're holding back for the big reveal of the original Hedwig?

Either way - I'm travelling from Canada for the third time to see it in March and cannot believe I actually get to see him play the part!

I am still giddy that one week from now, I will see Hedwig with JCM... I never thought this was going to happen, for how much he dismissed it, while hoping the whole time he was keeping his cards very close...

I also find it odd they are still only selling tickets through mid-march. It's halfway though January. If they are planning on any sort of advance they should be releasing new blocks of tickets soon. Could this be a sign of the show closing after JCM's run?

I'm guessing they will either announce the closing, a JCM extension, or a new Hedwig next week...

I have tickets for March, but I don't want to wait that long! I'm going to try the lotto or standing room soon. I hope he sells out!

I actually remember thinking the other two replacement Hedwigs' promo photos were also released within a week of their first performances, but I could be wrong. Expecting to see John's soon! Assuming they follow the full makeup/no wig model they've been using, I'm anxious to see our first gray-haired Hedwig (unless they've very recently dyed his hair). Going to his first late show next Friday and can. not. wait.

This will also probably be one of the only times we'll see a Hedwig who's actually age-appropriate (according to the text).

I've seen NPH and MCH as Hedwig. VERY excited to see JCM in February!

From the just-released profile of JCM in the NY Times:

"Mr. Binder said there was a 'very good chance' that Mr. Mitchell would stay in the show beyond March 14; whenever he does leave, Mr. Binder plans to recast again."

My friend does some of the special costume stuff for the show (the helmet and other stuff). He just finished the work on the new stuff for JCM, so things should start coming out soon.

Probably because they are not new, but just old lines JCM used to do in Hedwig. If he was adding newly written content, he'd probably keep it quiet.

Alix, I wondered about the hair too. I love his grey hair. And at least for Andrew Rannells, the photo came about a month in advance - I remember because it came out while my friend and I were in NYC in mid-July to see NPH for the second time. I can't remember for MCH though so you could be right in that his was much closer. I only learned Hedwig was on Broadway (sacrilege!) in May, right before I was scheduled for a trip to NYC, so the NPH photo had been around for ages.

Either way - I really hope they get a new poster. At this rate, my whole apartment is going to be Hedwig-themed...

I can't stop smiling. So damn good.

So it looks like at least the denim outfit is basically the same costume he wore at the Jane Street. Though he does have the new gold boots, so perhaps the overall look will be a combination of the two productions' costumes? This is going to be epic. I was expecting to see a poster along the lines of the three we've already seen, but am so happy it's different. John is different. This is going to be different. As it should be.

So are those pics from the original run?. If they are current, it looks like JCM will not be adopting any of the costume or wig adaptations from Broadway since this is the same look from the Jane Street production.

I hesitated about that at first, but I think they're new pictures. But they are definitely using some elements of the Broadway costumes--see the photos in the Times article posted above, and link below.

EDIT: ...Actually, now I'm thinking they're probably old. BWW seems to think they're "vintage." And I just looked through the photos in the Times article again and in the 8th picture he's wearing the denim cuffs that seem to go with the Broadway costume. We'll know soon enough.
