Posted: 5/14/06 at 5:07pmI have to agree in the sense that seeing the same thing is a waste of money. No offense, but it is the same show wether replacements are on for the originals. Frankly, Broadway is expensive because its a treat that most rich families take in when visiting NYC.

Posted: 5/14/06 at 5:15pmthe same can be said for buying movies. yes, there's a big price difference, but the same idea. but sometimes you just need to go back to a show because you really love it!

No offense, but no normal human beings see shows more than once. Its extremely expensive. There are other social things one can do to have a good life. To be honest, life is not just not about seeing Broadway shows. The guy writing the article is trying to be sociable by saying that NY is not just the place to go to see shows for eternity. The arts can be experienced in museums, movies and in many more places in NYC. I feel that once you love a show (to death), you are addicted to it like a drug. I can't waste money multiple times on a show when I know that people are starving and need food in this world.

I'd think it would be the other way around. As a non-NYer, I'd rather see original casts in NYC because I can always see the tour (which, as he said, is not significantly different) near my hometown. As a NYer, I would think it would make more sense to see different casts and such since you live in the city (they ARE your national tours, LOL), know how to get discounts/cheaper tickets, don't have to stay in a hotel and make an actual trip out of it . . . all that other stuff.
Just makes sense to me.
