"Noises Off" with Patti LuPone

The movie of this piece had almost no chance of succeeding - it is inherently a theatrical animal. The pleasure comes from participating in the environment as it all collapses around them, and you really need to have a perspective of the overall view to fully 'get' what's happening at any given moment. I strongly feel that this and A Chorus Line should never have been filmed.

Not to mention the fact that Burnett stole and mangled another one of Loudon's signature roles.

Love Loudon to death.
Love her, love her, love her.

I enjoyed the revival. Lupone was prob the weakest point of the cast. Katie was Hysterical w the "Sid Dithers " eyes!

The movie was ten times better than the revival. Patti did not have the same comedic brilliance that Carol Burnett had. Wish I would have seen Dorothy Loudon.
I also wish I would have waited to see Jane Curtain. I'm sure she was so much better. Comedy is her forte - unlike Lupone.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

saw it twice and thought Patti was one of the really weak liks (along with the actors playing Garry & Frederick--can't remember their names right now--sorry!). LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED Katie Finneran, TR Knight & Faith Prince-thought Faith was *almost* as funny ask Ms. Finneran. Thought Gallagher & Richard Easton were servicable, but not memorable, and also really like the lady who played Poppy. overall tho, COMPLETELY enjoyed myself & laughed myself silly both times. Love the movie also, for what it's worth...and was recently in a production...let's just say I did NOT laugh myself silly.

anyway, loved the revival.

Before I ever saw a stage production, I loved the film. It's infinitely better on stage, but I thought the film had a terrific cast. I saw the London revival in 2001 and it was wonderful, though the comedic timing and inflection for the British is so different, I personally thought it could have been better, but that's probably because I generally prefer American comedy over the British (though not in every case).

My high school put on "Noises Off" last year and it was the most fun I have ever had working on a show (I was on crew). I really liked the movie, but I have unfortunatly never had the opportunity to see a professional production.

I saw it and I thought it was wonderful! Kate and Peter really stood out. Patti just doesn't do it for me. Her practically silent third Act was funny, but her personal diva-ness shown through Dotty's. The stage hand (why can't I remember that cute man's name!!??) was very funny with his curtain speech between Acts 2 and 3. Kate really deserved all she received that year, and Peter did a great job.

I saw Noises Off on Broadway first and thought it was hysterical. Then later, I saw the film. The film had Carol Burnett, John Ritter, Nicolette Sheridan, Christopher Reeves, Michael Caine. etc. The film was better. T.R. Knight is now in Grey's Anatomy on ABC. Whatever happened to Katie Finnergan? She was much better than Nicolette Sheridan.

'Bout a year ago she was up here filming Wonderfalls. Don't know since then.

It really should have been filmed with an English cast. I thought John Ritter was terribly disappointing.

The movie just sucked. It's that simple.

I saw it. Katie Finneran and Peter Gallagher were amazing. Now, I am a HUGE Patti LuPone fan, and have flown to cities to see her perform. I also love Faith Prince. (she is so cute..). I found both of them to be out of their element. Their comic timing was off. I was upset for days after seeing it because I hoped they would be awesome. I know it is a tough show to pull off, and do well, there is a lot to it, but, bleh. I love the play too...but this production was weak.

The movie is much better.
