So, who saw it?
I love, Love, LOVE the movie and I own the script of the play but have never had the opportunity to see or be in a live production of it. How was the Broadway revival with Patti? I've never seen her in a slapstick comedy before but I have a feeling she was brilliant in it. Who saw her? Or, who saw it with Jane Curtin? But, I'm most interested to hear how Patti was.

The original play production on broadway with Dorothy Loudon was hilarious. Patti Lupone for me was to shrill and not funny.

I saw the first national tour after it played Broadway. I found it boring, dreadful and hardly very funny at all.

I enjoyed the show a great deal. A friend of mine was a dresser on the Patti LuPone production, so I got to hang around in the basement of the theatre when it was running.
I love the show itself, and found that the LuPone production was really great if only because of the star power involved. Patti herself was a bit forced, but still it was a joy.

NOISES OFF is one of my favorite plays. The revival was funny, but the last 15 minutes fell flat for me. I seem to remember it being a lot more outrageous that it was in this production.
And I couldn't understand half of Patti LuPone's lines.

Ckeaton;
What was the name of the young girl in that production that won the tony? I met her and she was a delight. Now of coure I can't rember her name. Was it Kate reindeers?

Posted: 4/21/05 at 12:51pmI loved it! I laughed so much that my side hurt afterwards--seriously. And the star power and chemistry was amazing. Though I do agree with MB that many of Patti's lines were a bit hard to understand; still, she was hilarious.

I saw the full revival cast and it was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. I laughed so hard that I couldn't breathe at some points.
LuPone was pretty good but Katie Finneran and Peter Gallagher were top-notch.

I saw the revival and enjoyed every second of it - but I have to agree with most everyone else - the original Broadway cast headed by Dorothy Loudon was incredible. The second act was a master class in how to do farce.

Posted: 4/21/05 at 1:48pmPatti was good--Mrs. Clackett is a very much like Mrs. Lovett, except for the whole using dead bodies for meat pies thing. I wasn't a big fan of the production as a whole--I thought most of the cast made the mistake of trying to make their characters realistic, when, as a farce, the play is SUPPOSED to be unrealistic--but Ms. LuPone was very well suited to her role.

I saw it with patti. I enjoyed the show very much but the person who say it was so dissapointed cause she did not sing. (I thought it was nice to see her do something other then sing all the time)
I do have a dirty story about one of the cast members and a certain leather bar that is not longer there......But I wont say it cause this is a All AGES Broadwayworld

I thought Patti was great, but the fact that I'm a giant whore for LuPone makes me biased.

Posted: 4/21/05 at 11:04pm"Noises Off" with Patti LuPone was painful. Considering her talent and skill, I can't imagine why she ever got involved in that misconceived production. Her accent was so thick and sloppy it was near impossible to understand her lines (and I was in about the 6th row). None of the other cast members gave any sort of a memorable performance either. As I recall, however, the show (miraculously) recouped its investment before LuPone left and Jane Curtain took over. Within weeks of Curtain's arrival, however, the show shuttered. Rent the movie with Carol Burnett; it's wonderful.

Posted: 4/21/05 at 11:10pmAs much as the revival was not as sharp as the original Broadway production, I have to disagree that "None of the other cast members gave any sort of a memorable performance either." Katie Finneran and T.R. Knight were both terrific.
