Considering I had already posted in this thread pointing out that there are many Broadway performers who smoke, I thought it would've been clear that I was not referring to the people who are withholding judgment as being naive (how would that even be naive?).

No, you had to use that specific example. IF you were "simply curious", you would've just asked if there was anything in an actor's contract that would prevent them from smoking. (Which, let's face it, is impossible). You didn't have to drag a specific person into the discussion, leading people to make judgements on Miss Caruso's personal life and choices. It's scary how much people read into a performer's photos on social media.

I'm sure countless Broadway performers of ALL ages sneak cigarettes in between shows, or even in their dressing rooms. They're only human. Doesn't matter if it's a "good" choice or not. So somebody smokes. What are ya gonna do? Go to the stagedoor and wag your finger in their face?

Seriously? You seem like you're not minding your own business by calling people stupid for making choices that have nothing to do with you. Talk about hypocritical.

Everyone is allowed to have whatever habits (within reason) they prefer. Other people are allowed to think those habits are dumb and gross. Nobody should be harassing anyone on social media over it.

And to answer the questions proposed by some about why a singer would smoke: singers are human just like the rest of us, and we as a species are kind of stupid sometimes. Smoking (even light smoking) is a short-sighted bad habit that has decent risks for health complications later in life and often leads to regret if those complications arise. It's far from the only habit like this, I don't know a single person (myself included) who doesn't do something dumb and short-sighted that they'll probably regret later in life. It's just what we do."

I can’t thank you enough for actually reading and comprehending my question. People go from 0 to 100 on this forum for some reason. I keep seeing it on different threads. I didn’t expect to be attacked for this, but I’m honestly not surprised.
People see their favorite people mentioned in a possibly negative light and instantly go into defense mode without taking the time to even understand the context of the post.

Some people on this board are incredibly thin-skinned, look for any reason to take offense, and then tear others down for practically no reason at all, all while patting themselves on the back for being so "non-judgmental."

Simply acknowledging the harmful effects of smoking cigarettes isn't a horrible judgy behavior; it's a statement of fact. Even light smoking can be dangerous (I believe someone earlier compared smoking a couple times a week to an athlete eating fast food a couple times a week, which isn't really an apt comparison. You can train your body to burn off fat. You can't train your lungs to filter out tar. Not to mention that smoking occasionally also creates secondhand smoke, and the I'm guessing athlete in this scenario isn't forcing big macs down the throats of everyone around them). As it turns out, people can acknowledge these facts without vilifying those who choose to smoke (of course, personal attacks and such are always wrong). If the people who are doing that offend some of the posters on this board, I'm sorry but we can't change science.

And that's just one example of one of the many weird things that came up on this thread.
