He's a great Fiyero. I'm very excited for his future roles.

...... you mean that WASN'T Adam Pascal in The Last 5 Years?!?!!? Because I could have sworn it was.
My first thoughts upon hearing "As Long as You're Mine" were "Holy crap, Mr. Pascal! I was not aware that you, too would be featured on this original cast recording with Ms. Menzel! What a coincidence!" .... sorry. I'm being mean because I'm all hormonal and I'm taking out all my tension on Mr. Butz...
heh.. Mr. Butz... say it with me, kids.
Sorry. I'm distracting from my point I was trying to make. Although I too absolutely adore Wicked, I also agree that Fiyero really is totally underdeveloped. But come to think about it, the musical did a good job in taking an obnoxiously complicated novel and turning it into a (relatively) simple plot with some pretty kick-ass songs.
And thank you to whoever pointed out that no, Fiyero ISN'T blue. But yeah... my point... whatever it was... Book Fiyero and Musical Fiyero on opposite ends of the spectrum.
Yes.

I think the part of Fiyero was written poorly, I don't think we can blame everything on Norbert Leo Butz and yes, while he does sound a bit like Adam Pascal, Norbert has a much healthier, clearer tone and probably won't develop nodes like Adam. Either way, that's beside the point, here's the thing - Wicked needed a love interest, it was fiyero, I personally liked the relationship between Fiyero and Elphaba in the book much better but you can't go through all that crap to get where they have to be in the middle of act 2 - So as far as I'm concerned Norbert did the best with what he was given - basically it's a poorly written role that they gave to a fabulous singer and all we can say is he can only do what he can do...

He was a great Emcee, and he was by far the best part of Thou Shalt Not. It's not his fault that Wicked didn't write its other characters very well.

Norbert, unlike Adam Pascal, doesnt sing from his throat. When I saw Aida a few years ago, I could already tell that Adam's voice is going. He doesnt know how to sing healthy and if he doesnt take care of his vocal chords, he is going to have no career left.

Hi people i started this and i haven't read the book but it seems to me like fiyero is now a great roll and was in the book they did a great job narrowing it down to be kid friendly if he wasn't great why would the show be so popular! Popular ur gonna be popular! haha

I agree that Fieyro was a badly written character, out of all the male parts in Wicked, Boq (when played by ChrisFitz) is really the only good character. I adore Norbert though and he is doing a wonderful job with pumping up a boring character to an extent.

I completely agree but the wizard isn't such a bad part

The wizard is one of the weakest characters in the show. The only disappointing thing about Boq was that he wasnt her friend like he was in the book. That was the one person she was close with and to them to not even be on speaking terms through the entire show is very disappointing.
Though scattered and divided we are still its heart...AIDA SEPTEMBER 5th, 2004...one more longing backward glance...
I AM NOW "TGIF!"

The Wizard has a ton of potential but he's not given much of a part in the show I suppose. He happened to get the sucky songs in the show as well. Although I like Robert Morse's version of Wonderful very much.
I like how they tried to do the blue diamonds on Norbert in San Fransico but they said it made him looked bruised from beyond the third row. Awww Glinda been smacking him with her handbag too many times
