Has there ever been? This isn't the Oscars. Hell this isn't even the MTV Movie Awards. I think Anna Nicole Smith may have been the only person capable of breathing life into that mess.

Prefomances except Color Purple and Jersey Boys
PATRICA NEAL's appearance was the only WOW moment for me. i LOVED seeing her after all these years. and her voice is still the same.

It wasn't really a WOW moment but it was a HAHA moment...
When Howard McGillen messed up in Music of the Night
When Beth Leavel made her acceptance speech (I loved it)
I thought the Drowsy Chaperone number was pretty impressive - made me definitely want to see it. The Wedding Singer and Jersey Boys both had great energy. I wasn't that impressed (again) with The Color Purple.
Sweeney could have been done better, Pajama Game was what it was - eh, and Threepenny Opera - I just sat there going "You've got to be kidding me." Can you imagine turning that on, not knowing a thing about Broadway, and seeing that???
And the opening number was pathetic - really. SO many great singers on Broadway - and they get Harry Connick to do a half-assed medley, poorly sung? Really? Put Norm Lewis up there, give him a phone book, and let him sing the numbers - it would have been better than that crap.

I agree that there were no wow moments, but Sweeney's performance was much better than when I saw it live.
Bob Crowley's acceptance speech...
I was like "Wow. I'd like to punch you in the face."
Personally, the two wow moments were the "republican puppet" comment (a friend of mine took SUCH umbrage with it. I told him he was just lucky he didn't catch the unbelieveable, obscene and screamingly funny insemination joke on "The Family Guy") and the other WOW was the Dreamgirls trailer. I saw the original and, damn, that looks like Bennett's ghost directed those moves. Maybe, just maybe they finally have done this musical and stage on screen as a whole, justice....
Alfre Woodard's breasts
Garland, quite right. For a moment I thought it was the Golden Globes!
The WOW for me was wedding singer and Jersey Boys
the "WOW" moments for me...
"Sweeney" losing.
Patti losing.
I think more than just "WOW" came out of my mouth.

I have to disagree, Now I say that as one who has not had a chance to watch the broadcast yet, so I am not sure how the telecast was, but I was there in person, my first time. I have thought the last few shows on TV have been lackluster, but seeing it in person I thought it was a terrific show. The musical numbers came off great (except Threepenny Opera), and I think that was because it was the same as seeing in their respective theaters live. And to anyone who might be interested, they ran some humorous look backs at previous Tony moments during commercial breaks on the big screens. One was a clip from Evita where it showed Patti putting her around Peron's arm in unity...except it was shown to us in closeup that it looked that way but she actually missed and held her arm like it was in his. The weakest moment of the show to me was the Harold Prince tribute. He deserved something better than the throwaway bit it turned out to be.
My Wow moment? Getting a chance to hold a winner's Tony for about a minute at the Gala afterwards.

My WOW moment was the Dreamgirls trailer. That was more exciting than anything that happened on stage last Sunday. Good performances, yes, but nothing to make me want to hop a plane and say "I must see this show."
